i go to a lot of thrift stores and they always have shoes for sale. i have bought a few pairs over the years but i know some people that will never by some one else's shoes because each people walk differently and the wear pattern on their shoes is different. do you buy used shoes? why or why not?

No, I've never bought used shoes - somehow its the same as used underwear to me Once a pair of shoes has been worn a few times, they are kind of adjusted to an individuals feet I think so I wouldn't trust them to fit mine properly.

LOL, I actually have a friend who told me she donated her underwear to a thrift store. I asked her who she thought was going to wear that. She didn't know, but figured someone would.

I had a neighbour who came round to ask me what size I was because she was going on holiday and wanted to 'borrow' a swimsuit. she said it wasn't worth buying one just for a week !!! I wasn't the same size and wouldn't have lent it anyway ... tho' I might as well have done because i could never bring myself to wear it again just at the thought of her wanting to 'share' it

The same friend who donated underwear wanted to borrow a swimsuit once too. She always borrows my towels, which I don't have a huge problem with. But the swimsuit? I do have an extra brand new swimsuit now though, because I got the wrong size online and couldn't send one back. So if someone comes over and wants to swim and they're super skinny, they can have that one to keep.

No, I never borrowed nor wear someone else's shoes. I'd say that it's because of my personal hygiene. I believe that since shoes are the ones that touches the ground, it is also the dirties thing of all my stuff. I don't know but maybe it's just me. So, I only use mine and never do I allow others to use my shoes as well. :)

I have bought used shoes, and wore shoes given to me by others from time to time, but personally prefer getting them brand new anymore. Especially Tennis Shoes or boots, as you never know what type of feet the person before you might have had, and since I am Diabetic I have to be Super cautious for sure.

You know, I will buy used clothing and have no problem with that. I will wear hand me downs too. But I don't wear used shoes that others have worn. First off, there is the concern about problems such as athlete's foot. But secondly, everyone walks a bit different and wears the shoe a bit differently. So someone else might have had bunions or something and messed up the outer part of the shoe. Or their feet may have been wider. Or something like that. They're broken in for the wrong person. Around here we can find cheap enough new shoes that if I'm in a pinch I can usually still find something.

Of course I would as long as they were clean and did not smell, recycling is the name of the game these days and saving money is essential for most of us.I think the shoes made these days don't really wear out especially kids leather shoes, they tend to grow out of them before they wear out.I give all my sons old shoes to the local clarks shop in town and they recycling them and send them all over the world. Some stay in England as well to help cash strapped parents to keep their kids looking nice.No problem with it at all.I will tell you something now years ago my mate and I shared a pair of shoes for work we worked different shifts, how about that then.
