I bought a wine kit a couple of months ago after buying a load of medicine bottles the same size as demijons. I followed the instructions and the results were nice and very strong, I was surprised by how well the wine cleared on it's own too. The kits are very easy to use these days the most important thing is making sure everything is sterile and you can't go wrong really.
Has anyone else ever made their own wine? did you do it from a kit or have ever done it from scratch?

When I was a teenager, a group of us picked something called 'sloes' from a tree in the U.K. I'm not sure how my mother did it but she made sloe gin. Well, when theu had it at Christmas, after one glass, everyone was high as a kite, I was so embarrassed at seeing my family like htis that I nver picked it again.

That's made with actual gin, you just fill the bottle with the sloes and leave it till Christmas, it is strong stuff.
