Does anyone here have kids, grandkids or great grandkids playing sports of any kind?
I have a grandson, granddaughter, great grandson and great granddaughter all playing baseball this spring and summer. I keeps my wife and I pretty busy trying to spred ourselves out so the parents and kids won't be upset about us missing their games. It's quite a delima at times. Many games have been rained out this spring and they are trying to play ketch up. Our eleven year old grandson had a game this evening, Friday evening, a double header on Saturday and another game on Sunday. In the first part of July his team is entered into 3 tournaments. We have to travel 45 miles to attend his games. His sister has her last game on Saturday at another location while he is playing in a double header. I waited patiently all winter to be able to watch all of them play, but it's beginning to take a toll on my wife and I. Soccer is a big deal this summer and most of them are involved in it. I guess we'll get a break this fall when things wind down before school starts.

I do not have any children or grandchildren. I'm actually still in high school. I just wanted to say that my grandparents had 16 grandchildren and while they loved coming to our sporting events, plays, concerts, etc., it was impossible for them to come to them all. I think it is amazing that you try to attend all of their games but I'm sure that they would understand if you didn't make all of the games. Maybe go once a week or once every two weeks. They wouldn't want you to be under so much stress! I think it is pretty incredible that you have been going so frequently!

Thanks for you comments "Cubbiefan". Last evening we attended our great granddaughter's pom pon recital, we missed our grandson's baseball game. The temperature is going to hit 99 degrees tomorrow and my wife doesn't want me to be out in the sun for my grandson's double header ball games.
So you're a cub fan, well I've been a cardinal fan all of my life, we live in Illinois but close to St. Louis. I was even a Brownie fan years ago when they had a ball club in St. Louis. I belonged to what was called the "knothole gang" a couple of times each summer a bunch of us kids would get free tickets to see a Browns' game, this was during depression times so we didn't have any extra money for game tickets. We would get free fare on a bus that took us right to the stadium. I guess the ball club paid for that. I was a Chicago Bear fan before St. Louis got a football team.
I hope you do well in high school and all of your school activities. Our youngest son played the "French horn" in high school and it help pay his way through college. It seemed there weren't too many who like to blow that horn and he was very good at it. He used a school horn, we couldn't afford the $1500 or so, so he could have his own. He hasn't touched a horn since he graduated the University.
Good luck and I hope you do great in all of your ventures.
P.S. One of my granddaughters met a young man in college who was raised just west of Chicago and she is trying to convert him to a cardinal fan. I don't know that she is having much success though.
