Is there any great free open source animation software available?

Hi, I'm an artist as some of you might already know from other discussions Iv made on the topic of art, and I'm also a hobbyist meaning I love creating different animation and lately Iv bean learning how to create art using my computer, and I recently made a short video clip with windows paints, and windows movie maker, and I think I'm ready to graduate to something a bit more advanced, so would any of you happen to know of any good open source animation software?
