why do people cry when they hear the word goodbye!

my cousin's mother when get mad he want uncle to go out from their home, if uncle would not leave aunty would continue nag! when uncle go and say goodbye aunty can't help herself not to cry! a friend of mine when she found out that his boyfriend courted another girl in their campus they broke up, and until today my cousin cry in some times she could remember day they said goodbye. did you ever cry when somebody said to you goodbye?
