nice title huh? i didnt see yesterday's match because of the bad time difference so a new discussion. u all know how ishant took those 5 wickets against pakistan in the last test before the infamous aussie series and proved his worth by bowling that devastating spell to ponting. the made him the second in charge in the pace bowling attack. [b] then everything changed.it started with IPL where the franchise bought him for huge money.for a rising star who tasted adulations just now,the lure of money is too much.he played in IPL and returned with one of the worst figures and didnt help the team. my view:never groom a rising young player in the T20 format.it has to be either test cricket or one day but never T20 and ishant fall started. his test bowling was okay but his odi form sucked. he was known to bowl those incoming nippy deliveries atleast4 times a over along with the one which straightens a lil. but now he was bowling only the straight ones and not the incoming deliveries which is proving costly. if he continues at this rate,he wont be any better than vrv singh, munaf patel who were ok bowlers but not enough intent or zip needed for cricket. may be it would have been different if he didnt in play in the first IPL or may be if Dhoni didnt give such a young guy with huge responsibilities of taking wickets everytime he comes to bowl. whatever happened happened and now we lost a very good bowler.i dont see ishant in the chamions trophy if he doesnt perform well in this one and the srilanka series because nehra is bowling with venom and zaheer will be returning soon.and if either rp or sreesanth clicked,it will be curtains for ishant.

That was a test match and this is limited overs cricket. Ishant sharma is still bowling very well in test cricket. He was never at ease in limited overs cricket but he is still a very young lad and has to learn a lot which is why dhoni sticks to him so that he can be groomed for the future. As he plays more and more in different conditions he will get a hold on his bowling in limited overs cricket as well. And it does not help if he is bowling on batting wickets. I am sure we will see him in the champions trophy.

[b]thats what i am saying.they should have made him play in the test level alone for time being because he is young and got time to develop.he would then get to bowl at different wickets and learn from zaheer and prasad on the tricks. thats y i thought it was a bad move to make him play in odi and T20 this early. btw what do you mean by batting wickets?after australia,he played in india many times, srilanka, new zealand, south africa, england and now west indies and he never bolwed that incoming delivery except once to micheal vandort in the srilankan series and the aussie series in india.if he is going to bowl well in australia and against australia why pick him for other series? i still stick to what i am saying.give the guy a break of a year from all ODI and T 20s and make him play test.the next year you will have a guy who knows how to bowl very well in the shorter formats of games

the conditions in india and srilanka are not pace friendly. playing with the white ball is not the same as the red ball. sharma is able to bring the ball in easily with the red ball in test cricket but struggles a bit in limited overs cricket. especially in t20 cricket he has not been able to settle down into it. in south africa and england he played t20 tournaments. i hope it answers your query. and he bowled well in new zealand.

thanks for supporting my view.i sincerely hope you will also agree with my point about resting ishant from these shorter format for atleast a year and make him play test so that we can raise a bowler who can bowl cleverly at any format of game.these failings in shorter formats surely be demoralising for such a young guy

Ishant Sharma had a rapid rise after that spell to Ricky Ponting in the third test In Perth. He was soon called the next big thing in cricket and people started expecting him to do great things in all games. He is still young. He has learned his game very quickly, but unfortunately he had a bad time since the IPL. He looked a little tired towards the end of the playing season. Yeh I remember those 5 wickets against Pakistan on an absolutely flat pitch. That really confirmed his ability to hit the deck. I also agree that T20 and the IPL have spoiled his game. The good thing however is that he is young and has a a lot of time on his hands. This off season is a good time to correct what ever went wrong. Hope he makes a good return.

He is still in his learning stages of the game and is gaining experience with each and every outing. So, we know that he is a quick learner and will be able to transform himself into a complete bowler in some time. Till that, instead of test matches, the other formats especially are a bit rough for him and we can't expect him to every time get a wicket whenever he comes to ball because he is still a youngster and needs backing of the captain and the senior bowlers!!

Ishant Sharma bowled well in the first round of IPL 2009 T20.He didnt get support from other bowlers in the KKR team.He is still a good bowler.Bowlers like RP singh and Nehra improved so much. This is a dull phase of his career he will come back well soon.

hi, yeah in recent days sharma is failing miserably both in india and overseas......he is missing his run ups too often which end up in no ball and consequent free hits..moreover his capability of swinging both sides too is not seen now days..mostly he putts straight deliveries ,wherein batsman can easily judge ball...if saharma dint rectify him quickly, its high time he find a place in playing eleven.,.
