Stealing Thunder...LONG discussion

Its an old saying. as when someone does something to be noted, someone else takes away the noteriety..does it better, gets more attention, etc. any way since the death of these 2 icons in entertainment im sorry to say its just one more discussion about them. i imagine a FEW may still feel like talking about them. son has not been able to sleep and i've been having trouble with it. so, we are still talking about them. Of course i mean Farrah Fawcett and Micheal Jackson. hence my name for this discussion. when i heard about Farrah was going to die i cried i've been an admirer of her talent for many years.i turned on the news on the day of her death and heard she had died at 9am. i was very sad and they were having all kinds of things on tv about her brilliant career. Then, in the afternoon, it was all over the news that Micheal had died. yes, he stole the poor womans thunder(I know he didnt mean to, but he did)now, since Farrah was my age and Micheal not much older than my son, here we are both greiving for these very talented people. what a sad thing to have your thunder taken away on the day you die. that would be my luck for sure. In any case, have you ever had your thunder stolen? is there still anything left to say about these great entertainers? my son thinks Micheal deliberately decided it was time. he was 50yrs and he had Peter Pan syndrome. could it be he wanted to go out with a bang before he got any older? and poor Farrah she loved life and held on with all she had.

It's a mercy, really, Bunnybon. Farrah's family can grieve in privacy now and all the media vultures will be harassing the Jackson family--which is awful, but Farrah can be buried with dignity and her family won't be subjected to the agony of helicopters circling the cemetery and reporters attacking the family on the road and at their homes. I'm sorry for the Jackson family, though, having the brunt of the media coverage, people taking photos through the windows of their homes, calling them constantly--we really should set some limits on how much the media can invade someone's privacy. Not restrict their speech, but impose some manners and common human decency.

Good way of looking at it all Dragon... it's true celebrities aren't allowed much privacy.

you are so right. i felt so sorry for how people have treated them in the name of being fans. why cant they just show their condolences. and leave the family greive. disgustingly i even saw a pic of Micheal on the stretcher in one news item. thats just wrong.so, your right at least it gives farrahs family a break,

Oh I had thought the same thing about Farrah sort of being pushed to the back but I didn't say anything to anyone about it. I do wish that more would be said about Farrah as she was a fighter and tried her best to stay alive. Let's not forget about Ed McMahon either.

I don't think he stole her thunder both got equal coverage here in montreal, micheal is still going on because he was a bigger star lets face it. I loved farrah but she did not have the following that michael did all over the world. He had sold out concerts already set up in england and people were coming all over the world to see him perform. he didn't steal anything he is getting what he deserves. farrah got what most actors get, a day of coverage, and that is it, I know it is sad, but look at princess diana and mother teresa dying on the same day, mother teresa got a few words here and there and princess diana went on for months, Jackson may not go on for months but it will not die out yet I don't think

I also thought Farrah was push to the back. I than thought the media was not expecting Michael to die and when he did it shocked them and they put him first. They did not forget Farrah though and always talked about her and her fight with cancer. We also do not see on the media the fans that maybe at Farrah home and families home.
