On June the 26 I have stop drinking sodas and will stick only to water and coffee, I will add to the list milk too, as I like it with my cookies. Today is day two of my new lifestyle. It will be hard as I enjoy soda too much. So, yesterday I got to drink 3 cups of coffee and 3 bottle of water. What about, would you want to make that kind of choice?

Nope, I would not. I like coffee too much to drink water or milk I did actually drink a sports drink yesterday. Does that count as a soda pop?

Well I am impressed! Nope, not a soda, tho you could probably drink a six pack of anything on the hour every hour and stay the same

i believe it will make you feel healthier... i don't like soda at all and i prefer to drink water, tea and milk... and i feel healthier compare to when i like to drink soda like coke in the past... soda contained so much sugar in it which is not good at all for your health... good luck in trying to quit drinking soda... i believe you will be able to make it... take care and have a nice day...

oh yes, when i was 15 yrs. i used to live on Pepsi. i hardly ate a thing and drank one bottle or can after the other. i got really hefty and could not figure out why as i was very active and barely ate anything. then living with my dad that next summer, i lost weight since he never had it on hand and i at times had no money for it. i was mostly drinking coffee and water and milk some. so, its a good idea i'd say.

Great, all I hear are good things about quitting sodas. I have to say I am very active compared to other adults, I walk a lot and I still can't understand why I am not losing the weight. lol But what you're saying makes sense to me. Thanks for the info.

Hey Shelly! I can't live without my diet coke/pepsi! I don't drink coffee or milk so what else can I drink except my soda! I still drink water! I have tried to cut back on my soda! I drink juice and lemonade sometimes! I can't stop drinking soda, but I have tried! Cutting back is as good as it gets for me! So what is the reason that you stopped drinking soda?

Hey! I totally understand, that's why I have at least my coffee in the morning. There are some changes in the household (economic) and it seems like a bummer to spend that much on soda when we could spend it on real food (like milk, eggs). Second, I feel that even tho I walk and walk I am not losing any significant weight, perhaps I am drinking more calories than what I eat. So I guess there are two reasons for me to stop. (I was also an occasional smoker and I stopped that so I can stop drinking sodas too)

I still drink sodas, but i think i only consume 1 glass a month. I just drink it when i crave for it and it doesnt happen everytime. I usually crave for coffee, its my energy drink, i drink milk every night to help me sleep and drink lots of water especially in the heat. The most important drink for me is water. When i wake up in the morning, the first thing i do is to get a glass of water and drink it, i make sure i drink 2 glasses of water early in the morning. The best way to lose pounds. happy mylotting and smile always.

That seems to me like a good routine, I mostly drink coffee in the morning but right now the days are getting hotter, we are in a new home and there are trees but in the wrong place, lol. So yes, two glasses of water before coffee will be great for me too. Even starting with one will be good. Thanks for sharing.

I gathered from the discussions that you want to stop drinking soda so you can loose weight. It's probably a healthy idea all around since soda is not very friendly to your insides. But several people mentioned that you can drink juice. I would recommend keeping an eye on those as well. Most juices are loaded with sugar, so you should drink them in moderation. There are some energy drinks that are low in calories, but may be high in carbs. You would just want to read the labels on everything and not assume that it's better for you then soda. I bet you would be surprised! I also know a lot of people who add a ton of milk & sugar to their coffee. Once they cut back or even cut out these, they found they lost weight. I would suggest sticking to water, it's healthy :-)

Thanks for the advice, I will say that I like my creamer and sugar with my coffee, but then I usually stop drinking coffee, one of my hang up with soda is that I do not seem to stop drinking it once I start.I will consider juice but no on a daily basis, it seems a little high in price for that to me. And yes, water is much healthier

I think you need to add fruit juice unless you get your daily allotment of fresh fruits, but sounds wonderful that you are getting rid of the crap in your diet, we all should do the same.

Yes, and you are not the only one to mention it, what I am saying this will be my first top drinks, to me juice is a little expensive for me, I do not see myself drink it everyday, heck I did not drank soda everyday either, I just drink a lot of it whenever I had the chance. Not a good idea.

I haven't drunk sodas in decades...I stick to drinking juices (watered down--half juice and half water), herbal teas and have only one cup of coffee a day---you can make you're own soda---add have juice (like orange or grape) then half seltzer--at least it's purer than regular soda

I never really thought of making my own soda, it sounds like a neat idea. thanks for sharing. Today we drank water, coffee and this lemonade with cherry because I found it on sale today. I am close to a store that sells sodas and it is close right now. I have made it another day

Yeah, since its been so hot lately, I've noticed its been a month since I've bought any soda, I usually buy a twelve pack of soda twice a month, but not anymore I haven't. We've been drinking alot of juices, water, and decaff. iced tea, and sugar free powder mixes, those are pretty good and cheap. I don't think I even miss soda, it seems like when its hot soda just makes you more thirsty. I agree that if you quit drinking soda it may help you to lose weight too.

Yes, I agree with you. I am doing ok with my new way of drinking, lol. So far it has been great. I am not in a hurry to lose weight but I have to wonder if I am walking almost everywhere I go I should be losing weight right? So, I am thinking I will lose a little bit by not drinking sodas.

Congratulation for your new lifestyle Shelly! I've done that 10 years ago. Now, I enjoying a less sugar, more healthy living lifestyle. At first it's difficult, but now if I try to drink sodas it doesn't taste good anymore. I drink coffee once in the morning then the rest of the day is water. Before bed time I drink milk. I don't like milk but I force myself to drink it, we need calcium. Happy myloting!

Hello friend, I am not much on sodas anyway.. but then, I am used to consuming a lot of soft drinks so I guess it will be a good idea to cut out on that. It will be ideal if I can have only milk and lemon tea but then these things are difficult to maintain over a period of time. Let's hope u succeed :)

I can see milk being difficult but lemon tea/ Do you make tea with the lemon peal? I used to make orange tea with the peals, I used to love it. It is easier as each day passes for me. I am on day number 4 I think. It is easier to open the refrigerator than to go to the corner and spend whatever cash I have for a soda.

Actually, I have tried that and it made wonders to my body. I'm only drinking diet sodas, but since I started drinking only water and occassionally some milk, I lost several pounds, my skin became softer and I gained a lot of energy. The first week is really tough, but after you get used to it you don't want to touch sodas again. It really makes you feel better.

About 20 years ago I lost my desire for soda, even though I will have a ginger ale maybe twice a year or so. I wish I could drink lots of coffee during the day, but it gives me the shakes, and I don't like decaf, it's just not the same quality taste. I also like grapefruit juice, and I always get the 'No Sugar Added', it's very refreshing, and makes delicious homemade frozen popsicles.

Of course you can drink juice! Just remember that fruit juice contains more sugar than one would think. It's easy to drink too much juice and thus gain a pound, but it tastes so good! And is quite healthy as well, if you ignore the sugar.

Well that would really be tough but i believe that's good. You're doing good. It's no joke to be staying away from sodas. Milk is one of the healthiest drinks so no doubt, it's good. Coffee, well i am still skeptical. I have read somewhere that coffee dehydrates our skin and it makes us grow old faster. I hope it has been disproved. Water, well i guess the electrolytes in our body is important and water, no matter how simple, supplies us that.

I had to change to water and thought it would be difficult since I am a Diet Pepsi fan big time. Instead, I grabbed the fruit water drinks and after a week of drinking them, soda seems heavy and unsatisfying. Even plain water tastes great now! My coffee intake is down to one cup or less since the change because it, too, tastes bitter since my happy taste buds are back in business.

Yes,it will be a good idea.I like to drink a milk.I think it is not good to drink soda too often because as we all know soda is not good for our health because of it containing carbon dioxide. We should drink a lot of water and milk because it will keep health our body and our bone.

I like how you specifiy, Bottled Water. Stick with tap if you live in North America (as far as I know) Once you open a bottle of water, the chemicals that make up the bottle start to slowly deteriorate and harmful chemicals may leak into the water. Also, the flourine ppm in water is low compared to tap (because it was filtered too throughly) and flourine helps with the teeth. Milk. Some argue it is great for a source of calcium and some say it is a source of allergies and mucus. Coffee, I'll be much more biased in this one. I love it, tops 3 cups a day for me though, too much and its really bad for you.

LOL- well my secret is that I am buying these cute bottles from Walgreens and I fill them with water from my kitchen sink, put them in the refrigerator and drink them. I can see what you mean tho, a lot of companies that produced water bottles were made to say if it was tap water or fresh water from a spring and a lot of companies was just tap water. I am not saying I would not buy water in a bottle but It will have to be an emergency. I too love coffee

Yes drinking water, coffee and milk are very good options in beverages. Avoid soda and colas as far as possible. Aerated drinks have a great impact on our bones which tend to lose strength day by day.Instead milk helps to strengthen our bones even as we age. Plenty of water helps to detoxify our system regularly. A cup or two of coffee does not harm our system. I have two to three cups of coffee everyday as I like coffee.

I also drink 2 to 3 cups of coffee each day, sometimes more but I also had the soda, I know we all need calcium and if we do not drink it even in vitamin form it is good for us.
