I am originally from the Buffalo area and my husband and I are here watching Bruce Almighty which is supposed to take place in Buffalo. Of course my husband expects me to know where all of these filming sites are. I don't know.
It does look like the K-9 training site is the one in Buffalo and maybe his brownstone is in Allentown. Can any of you WNYers help me with this?
So what movies were filmed in your hometown? DO you recognize the sites? Do you ever take out of town visitors to see them?

Films Made In Corpus Christi,Tx. where I live.
1978 Tilt
1985 The Legend of Billie Jean
1997 Selena
2001 Pearl Harbor
2008 The Open Road In Production
Not all movies were made entirely here. I know so many of the places in Billie Jean, those are in town near the malls. Selena has a lot of places I recognize also and Pearl Harbor, the Lexington battle ship is a major visitor attraction.

I've been to Corpus Christi, well more Padre Island. It is so flat.
Wait they filmed Pearl Harbor in Corpus Christi that is incredible. I didn't think you could find a place in the continental US as pretty as Hawaii. You are lucky to have such beautiful sights.
Have not seen Billie Jean but have seen Selena.

All of Pearl Harbor was not filmed here, but I do know that the battle ship parts were. Oh I do wish it was as pretty here as in Hawaii.
We were at our oldest daughter's when Selena was killed at a motel near where she lived at the time, that is the first I had ever heard of Selena. We did see all the police cars and even saw the one who murdered her sitting in the truck, we drove by on the freeway.
The Legend of Billie Jean, if you went on South Padre Island Drive to get to the Island then you traveled many of the places that it was filmed.

Hello Debs_place , the last place I lived the movie Assissins was filmed about 5 miles from where I lived, well the cemetaty scene.Rock Star was also filmed a little in the Seattle area. I don't usually keep up on what movies are being filmed in the area I live. Last year I know another movie was filmed close to where I now live. I still live in the Seattle area but in a different location by the puget sound.

Please tell me that Sleepless in Seattle was filmed on location, if not my heart will be broken (I must admit is one of my favorite movies). It looks beautiful.
I have not seen any of those movies.

montreal is a hollywood favorite site for movies, I don't know all of the movies, I remember snake eyes with nicholas cage because they asked for extras here in montreal, but I can't think of others, and yes I have recognized sites in montreal in the scenes as well.

I remember seeing the Riverwalk in a movie when I lived in San Antonio, it was just as beautiful in the movie, I was sure because I was on the Riverwalk right before seeing the movie.
I think it is the neatest thing when you see something you recognize in a movie, they filmed parts of the natural in Buffalo at All-High stadium ( I wonder if the stadium is still standing)...my stepchildren went out as extras.

I live in the Washington DC area, so it seems like millions of films have been shot here or are supposed to be shot here.
One of the funniest ones ever is Patriot Games, I think that's what it was called. With Harrison Ford. His family is kidnapped or something and he's racing through Annapolis - which I know VERY well. Well, those shots were NOT anywhere near here, we don't have highways like that! And when he drove up Main Street in downtown Annapolis (that was real) I have no clue why he took the turn onto the side street to get to Route 50. It was also very pronounced Rowe (should be like the ouch "ow") like Row (they all say it wrong, even the traffic reporters from DC and Baltimore say it wrong!). My sister actually hung out in Annapolis a lot during the shooting to try to get a picture of Harrison Ford. She did get a picture of her standing beside his chair.
As for the touristy movie shots, I think the most famous one is the stairs from the original Exorcist, where the priest went down. That was based on actual events that happened in DC - although it was really about a boy - and a lot of people will go look at the stairs. I've never been, but I hear it's pretty spooky. I know people who saw the movie when it first came out then walked over to the stairway. Gives me the chills just thinking about it!

Yes, it was in Georgetown. One day I will get there :)
And you got your car fixed in Rockville - I don't get that way much...
I would love to post the pic of my sister by Harrison Ford's chair, but I don't even know that she has it any longer. When she got divorced her x threw out all her stuff - I mean all of it, clothes, tupperware, luggage (that was actually mine) furniture... We were looking for some other photos a few months ago and there was very little that she salvaged from that marriage. I'm sure he would have thrown the kids in the trash too if she had left them behind...

Right, the stairs were in georgetown, I got quite intoxicated somewhere around there in my young and stupid days. I lived in Alexandria in the 70's. Used to get my Honda fixed in Maryland, rockland or rockville...there was a plaze by there Congressional plaza maybe or something similar. It was a long time ago.
You are lucky, the DC area is a great place with a lot going on. I love Patriot Games, excellent movies. I would not mind that picture can you post it?

A nice portion of Twister was filmed in Oklahoma. They even used our local weathermen as the weathermen in the movie. There is a film that just finished being shot here, but I don't remember the name. Jessica Alba is in it and I know that because she got in trouble for putting signs over part of the Oklahoma City. Small parts of Phenomenon (John Travolta) and Far and Away were filmed here too. Do you know that TNT show Saving Grace, with Holly Hunter? The show is set in Oklahoma, and they do film some of the show here. They definitely filmed a lot at the Murrah Bombing Memorial. I don't watch the show, but apparently the bombing fits into the storyline for Holly Hunter's character.

Wow, Oklahoma is quite popular. Twister is a great movie. I liked Phenomenon. Have never seen Saving Grace. It is nice that they actually shoot on location.

I'm from a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio and we had quite a few films made here, some only part of the film but nontheless. Here's the list:
Air Force One
American Splendor
Antwone Fisher
Christmas Story, my favorite.
The Deer Hunter
The Fortune Cookie
Happy Gilmore
Major League
Welcome To Collinwood
Light Of Day
Spiderman 3
I'm sure there will be more to come, and I might have missed some along the way. I haven't seen all these movies but the Christmas Story House is open for tours.

My brother recently moved to a suburb of Cleveland and took his kids to the Christmas Story House this year.
Wow, you had a lot of movies filmed there, it is too bad it does not do anything for your economy. or course Deer Hunter might not.

The last movie I heard of with a Northern Ireland location was "Hellboy 2-the Golden Army" which featured the Giant's Causeway on the North Coast...apparently,though,according to the location Trivia on IMDB,they used only one establishing shot from there, then filmed the rest somewhere NOT in Ireland!
More Locally to Me,a cliff overlooking Lough Erne, the Lough Navar Viewpoint (Gives a panoramic view out over the lough-one of the tourist attractions here!) got featured in a Locally filmed Movie,"The Mapmaker" some years back-they wanted a dramatic reveal when one of the stars was being chased on foot, and he emerges from a wooded area to this panorama...a nice effect, but as this cliff is several hundred feet up in a forest park and surrounded by bogland,a chase as though through a lightly wooded area on level ground wouldn't have been possible! I like to bring visitors up there.

I live failry close to where a part of the movie Yes Man was filmed. I said I live close, but I have never actually been to that particular place. I can watch many movies (the names elude me right now) that are filmed in places that I have been, but that's about it. For example, The movie A Christmas Story was filmed not very far from my hometown in a neighborhood that my parents took me to when I was very young. I don't really worry about the films and locations unless I recognize them, and even then, I may make a comment, but that is about it.

I live in Rhode Island, U.S. and since this is the smallest state there aren't many movies filmed here at all and when there is one, it is a pretty big deal. When I was in sixth grade, in 2007, a short scene from the movie, "Dan in Real Life" starring Steve Carell, was filmed at my school and was a pretty interesting experience. I also recognized a lot of the areas where the movie was filmed because almost the whole thing was shot in my state which is 1045 square miles compared to something like california which is 156,000 square miles.
