I love watching squirrels and today I found out just how resourceful those little critters are.
My neighbor has a lot of birdfeeders and he prides himself on how squirrelproof they are. Well, today one of them little critters proved him wrong!I stood at my backdoor watching two squirrels chase each other, when I saw one jump on top of one of the birdfeeders. It's the type where the llittle perch folds down when something heavy lands on it. Of course the squirrel fell of it on the first try, but on the second try the little guy decided to hold on to the roof of the feeder with his backpaws and grab the food with his frontpaws.
He was happily chowing down, filling his litle tummy with seeds, my cat Samson watching him trying to figure out how to fill his tummy with squirrel lol.
I was just amazed at how quickly the squirrel learned to circumvent the squirrelproof contraption.
Do animals amaze you sometimes with their cleverness and quick thinking?

how cute and smart!
animals who aren't domesticated tend to be a bit smarter in terms of finding their food.they don't have human families that look after them,so they work doubly hard to find their food.some kind strangers give them food, but most of the time, they just rely on themselves.

Squirrels are quite smart little buggers... lol They are so fun to watch. Just about 2 hours ago we were having a thunderstorm with torrential rain. I was standing on the back patio watching the rain and lightning. Just as the rain was flowing down the hill into the woods about 20 feet from the house, a baby squirrel came running toward me looking like he was scared poop-less. The poor little thing realized what he was doing and doubled back and sat at the base of the closest tree. He just sat there staring at me as if I was supposed to save him... I don't think he knew what to do when his path became flooded..lol After a few minutes I hear a squirrel making noise up in a tree... we both looked and he scurried off to a tree to the right and ran right up it. I guess he found safety... it was just too cute the expression when he realized he was running toward a big bad human...heheh
