One of the Tasks I tried lead to a bad Thing

I have signed up with one of the tasks and it is a huge scam. I don't think the person that put the task up met it to be a scam but that is the way it turned out. I went and did what it said and clicked the first thing and it gave me what it said was my IP address. I checked and it was not my IP address at all so how could the person I signed up with credit me with the task check that I did what I said I did at all. That is the first part of the scam. Then it goes from there. Then I fill out all my facts and it asks for my phone number and last four numbers of my social security number. And asks if I agreed to the terms of the agreement. I read the fine print. It says it is signing me up to a voice messaging answering system and I will be billed $18.83 a month on my regular phone bill!!! But I can cancel any time. There is no phone number anywhere. I have to search and find a website in the hidden terms to get the cancellation website. Then it also says that there is a onetime $1,000 dollars activation fee they are waiving for the coupons to the coupons saving site I have just signed up to when I hit the submit key in-order to get my "free 9 samples of Herbal Essence Shampoo". This is a Huge scam. But wait it is not done. Nope once you have done this you are lead to another page that tells you you must pick two more "OFFERS" before you can "Qualify" for your "FREE" offer!! Who do they think they are fooling? I guess these things do work and people fall for these things all the time or they would not be out there. I looked at the other tasks and they seem to be along the same kind of thing. I don't think the people putting up the tasks are aware of what is happening in these "offers" or maybe they are. I am hoping that our friends here on mylot are good people and are not trying to get us cheated on purpose like this. That is why I am not angry with what happened to me. I think they just made a mistake.

I guess, she would have just found it was a scammed site! It's not good of her to keep silent, very rude. I really appreciate your style of handling this situation, very professional! Keep it up!

Oh, cookie dear, we may not know each other well but i am already feeling sad for you... and for all the other members here that may already be in the same predicament as you are in now! I only did a task once and it was for a very close friend and i am glad i did it. It only took a few minutes, i enjoyed listening to the music and have gotten to know more about my friend and the talented son she is proud of! But now, after becoming aware of your experience i think it would be wise for me to stick to my decision and not accept those other tasks that were sent to me nor sign up to become somebody's referral thru the links that i have received! Thanks for sharing to us what you have been through, cookiecrumbles! You've just done me and the rest of us a great favor! I hope everything will be sorted out and you get out of your unpleasant situation soon!

Agreed - I've done 2 private tasks, both were for MyLotters who were well known here, and one was the music oneand the other was a photographer. I didn't do it for the money, but for the artistic experience and to help a fellow MyLotter. Otherwise, it's Sharon Bux or nothing for me!

Yea I was dumb, I trusted the person because they were a mylotter. But friends don't. The mylotter asked for my IP address. Then the website asked for my phone number and last 4 numbers of my social security number. I can change my phone number but not my social security number. I am calling social security tomorrow and telling them what I stupidly did. And I am calling a friend on the FBI to check out that web address I was told to go to. Maybe they know something about them. I will let you all know.

I stopped bothering about the tasks shortly after they started because I decided that the small amounts that they paid was not worth the effort of doing them.

Well, yes. Though I'm not really here for the money, though it's nice to get paid for doing this, I'd probably still be here even if they did not pay.

Well yes I can understand that, but when you are just starting out and trying to build up your earnings for your first payout.

I don't think it's a mistake at all. To refer you, they first had to try it for themselves, right? I noticed a heck of a lot of newcomers jumping on the tasks bandwagon. You MUST report this to MyLot ASAP. Others may not be as savvy as you. Me? I wouldn't turn over in bed for what those tasks are offering, let alone risk infecting my computer. The only tasks I trust are from long-term MyLotters, or MyLot themselves.

I think you owe to all the other MyLotters who might be taken in. I smell a big fat rat here - have a look at the profile and see what their posting history is. If they look like a genuine MYLotter who got taken in themselves, then tell them you feel duty bound to report the incident - but explain why. Chances are, though, you'll be hard put to find any genuine MyLot activity of theirs, outside of task posting.

I thought you all might like to know that she NEVER PAID ME! And they have attached a ! to the task box when you check one out. I went back and reported her! She has three new tasks. I went into all three tasks. I explained she was the same woman in all three tasks that cheated me out of money. I told them I didn't want her to cheat other mylot people. I hope they do something. I know I did the right thing. How do you all fell about that?

Hi, can you please specify as to whom the task came from? And the subject of the task for that matter? Because it will be of great help to anyone who will read this discussion to be aware of the scam that happened to you.

See honey I don't know if the person did it on purpose. I don't want to hurt them or get them in trouble. Maybe they didn't know that this was gonna happen. I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. However, if you PM me I will give you the all the details. I think that is the fair way for me to do this at this stage.

Hmmm...that sounds like a scam to me. I would report them to myLot right away. That way they can determine if it is a scam or not. It sounds fishy to me though... Have a nice day and happy myLotting!!!

Doesn't sound like the person who did this was so innocent. Most of the tasks I see there are probably scams and I'm surprised that the people at Mylot don't have a better mechanism to prevent them from being posted. Sounds like the person who posted your task knew exactly what they were doing. Most of the people who post these tasks have tried them themselves , so they know what they are about.

I myself have never tried to do any of those tasks just for the fact that they seem quite complicated. I hate it when websites try to hide things in a maze of fine print just hoping that you won't follow through to cancel the subscription. I don't know how much you would have been paid for that if you ever did but it sounds as though it would have had to be a lot just to be signing up for a subscription like that. However, I have done similar tasks like that on other sites where you had to submit your email address and home address but never my social security number. Other surveys or offers I have done ask for my phone number as well but its a good thing I don't have any credit on that number or else I could have risked getting charged for something in the fine print. I hope things get resolved for you and for alerting the rest of us on the possible dangers of such task on mylot.

Like I said I don't think the person that put up the task intended for anyone to be hustled into other things that would cost money or they would not have offered the task to being with. At least I am hoping that is the case. That is why I did not put the person name or the task. I am hoping that the person will see my discussion and withdraw the task on their own being a good person. We have a false sense of security here on mylot thinking that everyone here is our friend and will not hurt us and I am hoping that this person didn't put this task up knowing ahead of time that this would happen. If they did I think they should be removed. Now they are just as new as me so maybe they are here to hurt people like me. So I don't know. I am very confused. I know I will never try any of the tasks again.

I'm sure glad that your realized that it was a scam because there are a lot of innocent people out there that have been tricked out of a lot of money, some even their life's savings. Good of you to let everyone here know about it too.

I'd say report them. Its great that you like to think the best of others but in this case, I think you have the right to be angry. Definitely report the person AND the task so that no one else falls victim as well. :-/ Good Luck! Sorry that happened to you :-(

Sorry to hear that happened to you! I never give out my main phone number. Whenever a site asks for my phone number I use my free internet/voice-mail phone number that I got from k7.net. I fill out free offers at Cashcrate and use that number. It works great!

I don't know if it was done on purpose by this mylotter or not that is why I didn't put their name. I just wanted everyone to be aware that they can get in trouble if they don't watch out. If you see that they say FOR USA OR CANANDA OR BRITISH ONLY I think you should be careful.
