It was the worst night of my life as there was no light for the airconditioners to run. It was sweat all I could feel on my body! Terribly hot and miserably sad condition took me to open my car and start my airconditioner and slept there! In the morning I thought of those millions of people who cant even afford a nice home, what to talk of ac! Oh what a pity!

Hi dhawanbm! You must be lucky to have air conditioners in your room. Your one night without AC was a sad one. But I am facing the problem everyday. I am looking for the day i will sleep in airconditioned room. Well i use my fan to cool me. But what a pity!! my country is facing lack electricity problem and has power is cutoff time to time. I feel terrible and miserable when this happens. But i feel happy to have atleast a fan. Poor other people cannot afford a fan too. Thinking of such poor people i satisfy myself for having a fan. Now when this things happens to you again think of such poor people and be satisfy with what you have got...I wish this they never come to u again... happy mylotting!!!

I don't have an AC. I really couldn't afford the electricity it takes to keep one running anyway. I think your body adjusts to the temps. Out of the year there are maybe 3 or 4 days that are so intense that it is almost unbearable but for the most part we are used to the heat. I don't have AC in my car either. I find that if I go into a place that does have it, it may feel good but it makes the heat feel even worse when I have to leave.

we almost never hit triple digits here. Ya...I can see why that would be tough.

Heh. I think AC units should run on solar power... completely. Put that blasted sun to work to cool your house after it pumped up the heat to 102 lol. There comes a point in time when you can't really adjust, when you're talking triple digits and no shade, AC is almost a necessity. I couldn't have no AC in my car, when it's 102 out then it's 115 inside the car . I suppose I could survive if I had to but I don't think small kids should have to try lol. They get heatstroke so much easier than we do.

Hi there dhawanbm! Here in our city, there is really no need for air conditioners since it is really cold. Even during the summer it does not get any hotter than 24 degrees celsius. So it is something that we enjoy. But when I go to hot places, I don't think I will be able to stand the heat. I would definitely need an air fan or an air conditioner.

Hi dolce, vita thanks for the comment however it is like, living without ac it is now not possible however it might be good if you go on the top of the roof top in the middle of the night and have good nights sleep in the cool waves of the air blowing there, i wish i could do so, alas oh no roof tops, we live on ground floor!

i think because in the golden days it is not as warm as now adays, because because of glboal warming. i was also wondering before why we always sleep with the a/c turned on , and we didnt before, and realized that it is warmer now.

Luckily i am not used to these thing called airconditioners.I know people who are living a realy so[ahsticated lives need AC at any costs, but i think it is harmfull for our healt as well as for our globe, as these things blow out the CFC's at a very high amount which makes our ozone layer deplete and this is the only reason why we feel this hot nowdays than before. It is we who are destroying the globe in order to comfort ourseleves. No offence against you at all.So please dont mind on anything. This is a nice topic to talk on so i did.

Hi Archie, Well its nice to hear from you and its like that we have become much dependent on the machines and gadgets that our lives are such now! Its comfort on one hand and the miseries and greifs of poor on the other, as this is a widening gap, but it little that can be done. This is because of the result of global temperatures and our own folies!

I do not like airconditioners either, I have never lived in a home with one and never intend to! I like having aircon in the car but that is all! I have been to seminars where I have sat in aircon all day and have found myself each time not feeling well after such a long time in that climate. As soon as I went out in the heat and sunshine again, I felt good! I use fans to cool myself in Summer, which is long where I live!

Seem like your life cannot be separated from the air conditioner. I usually seldom deal with air conditioner except have no choice in office. I like the cool weather under the air conditioner, but the bill is too expensive if subsribe for air conditioner. So have to tolerate myself with the weather without air cond.

it is a pity when the kids have to suffer due to power failure, but it is not the case, when the power is gone, we are left with no other option but to suffer in the hot sweltering heat of after sun its restlessness and humidity which makes me even worse

I dont think that Air conditioner working or not working should make any difference to you...If you are tired and have worked for the day then you will feel sleepy under any condition....I am a farmers son....SO I have been through extreme conditions...Just think the days when the AC's where not invented..People still slept and slept happily...

hello dhawanbm, If you are really used to it, you will surely suffer a lot and for that you can never sleep. Others are using electric fan instead of AC to make them comfortable. Some if not a lot is using a fan to lessen the heat. Good for us for we live in a City where you don't need an Aircon for the climate here is perfect. It's not that cold and it's not that hot.

There are many poor families that can't afford to have an airconditioner. The situation is quite similar nearly in every country. The distance between the poor and the rich is becoming longer than before.Maybe with the development of our socity, this would aggravate. In some romote mountain villages, many people even can't get sufficient food and clear water.I wish that more and more leaders and governments pay more attention to the weak group.

When I was younger I hardly go and sleep in the airconditioned room because I tend to get snuffles the next morning. So when I grew up I did not force my parents to let me sleep with aircon every time thus I am not spoiled. When my son was younger he was always sleeping with just an electric fan not that I do not want to but it just so happens he really like sleeping in my bed. But nowadays when we moved here in my in-laws we really have to turn on the aircon when he sleeps because it is so hot here unlike my parents house which is windy.

hmm well i think i can understand your situation, even my place is very humid and having a AC is like a must! one night the power was out and it was all sweaty and couldn't sleep, it was total silence and the wind was not blowing either, terrible place without the power, atleast the fans could have helped but everything was out due to the powercut.

Hi. dhawanbm. I can understand how you may feel to sleep without any cool air on you. When I used to live in my in-laws house, it was very hot in the bedroom that I used to sleep in. My in-laws did not have any Central Air or an air conditioner to keep the room that we was sleeping in cool. I was so dreadful just trying to feel cool while sleeping. I was so miserable, so I can understand perfectly how you are feeling too. It is a shame that you had to run your gas just so that you could feel some cool air because you could not feel it from your own home. I hope that by now, you have electricity so that you can feel some cool air like you would desire to. I know that when it is hot during the summer time, I want nothing but to feel cool air and not any hot air while I am trying to sleep. I have sweated many of times and it is never a fun thing either.

Wow that sounds so funny to me because I have no air conditioning at all. Yes, it is very hot and sticky but after a while you actually get use to it. I do work in air conditioning so it takes a minute to get use to it after leaving work, but it does become bearable as long as I don't focus on it too much.

I don't usually use air conditioner cause it consume more electricity than the ordinary fan.

I have spent many nights without AC but this summer is becoming unbearable! There has not been enough rain or clouds and the sun is relentless.
