If you know somebody that is really useless and you really feel like saying it, will you? Do you think it is too mean to say that?

hi yes it is very much rude to say that once you say that to someone, he/she will never forget it, and whenever that person something wrong he/she will remember this compliment and feel more bad about it. don't ever say it to anyone!

*when ever that person does something wrong by mistake and when he is criticized for his/her wrong doing.

No, i would never say that. I would rather keep it to myself. I think that's pretty hurtful. My mom keeps saying that to me but then i guess she's being insensitive. Sometimes she would say it to me in a joking manner but i know she mean it. It hurts a lot though i have proven them that i am not useless. She's just too narrowminded sometimes that she can't see the bigger picture.

Of course it's mean and hurtful to say that to someone. No one is entirely useless...they're just not living up to their potential or to the expectations of family, friends and/or society for one reason or another. Some people have problems...others don't care...but it's not my place or anyone else's place to judge anyone's worth.

nobody is "USELESS", so saying things like that is totally offending. cause there is no one here on earth would like to be useless, in society, family and for his/her self respect. might as well say that you are weak!

Hi mermaid...I definitely think so. I've been told by previous employers that I'm easily replaced and to me that is the same thing as saying that you are really useless. I think its' degrading and mean spirited and I would never say it to anyone else.

I think that it is a mean thing to say to someone, and i think that you should find a way to say something nice to a person. and to help keep their self esteem up, and not to try to make someone feel bad about them self's.

Well i wouldn't directly say that. I would rather use the appropriate word or situation to say that he/she should improve a lot instead of directly stating that he/she is useless! BTW is it this in your personal or professional life - coz you can always escalate the problem to higher officials at office front :)

I've said it a couple of times because I was really angry but I always end up super regretting those words. Not only does it hurt, but we all know that nobody is useless. Sometimes, we tend to overlook how much effort another person puts in just to please us. So, yes... It is wrong and mean to say "You are useless!".
