I just finished reading Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. This was the book before The Da Vinci Code with the character Robert Langdon. I read The Da Vinci Code years ago when it was really hot. Everyone said how great it was and all that. I was somewhat disappointed in it because although it was a good book, I didn't think it was that great. I actually liked Angels and Demons better.
If you've read both books, which one did you like better?
Also, are you going to, or did you, see the movies yet?
I saw The Da Vince Code, and it was ok. It looks like Angels and Demons would make a better movie though. When it comes out on DVD we'll watch it.

Yeah, I agree. Angels and Demons is better than the Da Vinci Code, in terms of the thrill and the pace. I just don't like the way Dan Brown killed all the bishops in the novel. It's very educational, though, because who among us knows the proper procedure of choosing the next pope. I never thought how political and complicated the process is. It's amazing and intriguing. As to the Da Vinci Code, well, I've read it before reading Angels, but indeed the pace is not as good as the latter. What made Da Vinci Code so popular is the fact that Dan Brown rocked the Catholic's faith with stories that Christ and Mary Magdalene had an affair and that they have descendants. Hardcore Catholics can't simply accept this idea. Well, this did not faze me because I understand the book was written merely to entertain, not necessarily to threaten one's faith. Brown is a good writer. Why don't you try reading the Digital Fortress, it's also good. But not as controversial as the Da Vinci Code. Happy reading!

Digital Fortress was pretty good too. My mom didn't like the Da Vinci Code because it was just "lies about the Catholic Church". She also worked at NSA for some 20 years so she was disgusted that it was so fake and there's no way half of what happened could have happened. She can't get to the "entertainment value only" philosophy of the books...
One thing I don't like about Dan Brown is that he leads you up to something kinda important then it's like the characters whisper in each others ears so you don't hear it. He does it ALL the time and it gets a bit annoying.

I havent seen or read angels and Demons yet but cant wait to read it. I read The Da Vinci Code and saw the movie. I actually thought the book was better than the movie. So I would rather read Angels and Demons than see the screen version. :-)
