I had posted a discussion yesterday about how shocked I was about Billy Mays death. It really just seemed so out "off the wall" as he was such a Loud Energetic fellow. Originally I suspected that whatever fell on his head from the plane accident may have bruised his brain and or caused a clot which in turn caused his death, but I was just reading the news and the coroner says Billy had heart disease. I'm guessing he didn't know he had it because I imagine his wife would have said something in one of the reports. Anyhow here's the link if anyone wants to read about it. http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/TV/06/29/mays.death/index.html?section=cnn_latest

I heard the news yesterday while at work. I work in retail at a store with a big "As Seen on TV" section. We put candle operated tea light candles in front of all the Billy Mays endorsed products. I like to think that it was a good way to show we care. :-(

allison that is a very sweet thing to do. It's amazing to think how people can bring kindness out in others throughout the world, without even meeting them in person. Sure he wasn't "As big as MJ" or some other people, but still he was a human being, and whilst he was very loud LOL that is what made him successful. Indeed it was a good way to show you care, and if his wife and family knew I bet they would be proud :)

I heard this a little while ago and was very surprised, too. I would have bet the farm it was due to a head injury...good thing I don't have a farm to bet. Mays may not have known that he had an enlarged heart and a clot can catch you off guard so, without someone being there to help, he didn't have a chance.

LOL @ the farm. Yeah I don't think he knew about his heart conditions. So odd because heart disease doesn't just show up one day, it builds up over time. He might have had some symptoms and just dismissed them as being from working too hard or something. This whole thing is a real eye opener for me because many times if I'm feeling out of sorts I just tend to let it go, not go to the doctor unless it gets to be unbearable. Now I am thinking that if I'm feeling ill I should go get checked no matter what.

That is surprising. I thought it would be from a head injury as well. And I agree for someone so loud and energetic seems odd to have heart disease. But they do say its the silent killer. Most people who die from it never knew they had it. But at fifty seems awfully young.
