Happy Canada Day dear friend. Here in Toronto, the city canceled the festivities unfortunately because I wanted to go to the fireworks - love those :) - We weren't planning on anything special, just go to see the fireworks, but now not even that grrrr :) Have the most wonderful day :)

At least thw weather held out. I went down to harbourfront. The multicultural concerts and dances were still on. I also played tourist and went on a boat tour around the islands. Right now until October 2 at harbourfront there is also an outdoor exibition of laminated huge photographs of Canada's boreal forests from all provinces and territories photographed from the air. Really interesting. I hope you had a good day.

And in the end there were fireworks in some places! We thought about going out but hubby's aunt called because she needed help with something in her home, so hubby went and I ended up staying home and started to sort out a few of my things that I had kept at school for quite a while. No idea of where I"m going to put it all :)

thanks hon for putting this up in english and french, I will not be doing anything, I haven't for years. I used to like to see the parade and get a piece of the big city birthday cake years ago but now being disabled I don't get to do much anymore.

Ah, too bad you can't get out. Maybe you can watch the events that take place in Ottawa on TV. I think the best show is there. Living in Toronto now things are different. This year there is also a srike of municipal workers here and most things are cancelled. The garbage is piling up. I am planning to take in some music at Harbourfront. Hope it does not rain. Happy Canada Day.

The kids always want to go see the fireworks. We don't go to the day's events but we do try and get out to see the fireworks. This week is supposed to be full of rain showers so I'm not sure if we'll make it out or not. I feel bad for the people in Toronto. The City workers are on strike so they have cancelled all Canada Day celebrations except fireworks. That really has to suck. A big city like Toronto should be pulling out all the stops to celebrate our country. They didn't let the strike stop Pride Week. We celebrated people who are gay and transgendered for a whole week but we can't celebrate our country for a day? The veterans are pretty upset about this. I usually cry when I hear the National Anthem, though I try not to show it. I am proud of my country. I think I am living in the best place right now. I may not celebrate the day, but I am proud of my country every day.

Thank you for this. Yes it is too bad most events in Toronto are cancelled. However, there are still a few. The is a sound and light show at Ontario place, a ribfest in Centennial park, some music at Dundas Square and at Harbourfront. Let's celebrate our country. Happy Canada Day to you also!

i also live in canada (ontario here) and think it is a wonderful country to live in. i am glad that i do not live in the US because of our healthcare and the fact that this current recession didnt hit our country as hard as it hit the US. Canadians are ready to help more. (look at the Canadian entries vs the US entries to both world wars.) Canada rules! happy canada day!!!

Happy Canada Day to you also. I am retired and will be forever grateful for our healthcare even though it has its flaws. I would be in the poor house without it. Enjoy the day.
