I wanted to buy a guitar. Nera my house it was a little costly. My friend told me to go to this place which was about 50 kms from my house and took me about 2 hours to reach there but i got the same guitar at a very low price. But then when i added the travelling and eatting cost..... it all added up to be nearly aroung the money for which i was getting the guitar near my place. I had fun travelling and experiencing this new place but i didn't saved any money nut it was good trip all in all.... So do you also travel far to get something cheaper...

It would depend if the cost to travel that far would still be saving me money. For example. here milk is $8.10 for 4litres while in the next town it is 7.85 for 4 litres. Hardly worth the $8.00 in gas to get there to save the 25 cents. However if I am planning to buy multiple amounts of food then I will go to Port Hawkesbury as the savings would be more worth it.

Hi harshrosicky, I did do such thing before. I had to consume one and a half hour to reach a nearby town to get an accordion during my younger days. I think may be in someone’s eyes it’s really stupid for to do so. Yeah, they teased me that what for to spend extra time and money to get the instrument which was available in my place though it was rather higher in price. But they never realized that how happy the moment was to spend in another town with my hubby there Besides getting my desirable instrument, we had lots of fun hanging around in the busy streets enjoyed eating the various types of delicious street foods there. Yeah, it’s a town popular with its local street foods. This also gave us an opportunity to visit its beautiful and natural beaches in the same time. Yeah, we could get the musical instrument with money spending, including all the expenses, more or less the same. I believe we would never ever get the happy and memorable moment if purchasing the accordion in my hometown. Happy and take care!

If the price is different by a lot then I will travel that distance to get that cheaper thing that I need. Or else I won't waste that effort and time to travel and get the thing for only a few dollars different.

Hi, I regularly travel an hours drive each way just for the savings on the groceries, the savings far outweigh the cost of petrol and I also fill the car up with petrol there as well as it is usually 20 cents a litre cheaper than here. The area I live in is tourist based so the prices are inflated and also the quality of fresh foods is not as good as it has to be transported further. I now resent to shop where I live as feel I am being ripped off when I know how expensive it is in comparison to the town where I shop. The road between the two places is one of the most spectacular ever which makes the journey enjoyable.

The first thing I do when I find something cheaper is to factor in all the other costs, including labor. Sometimes if the other store is inconvenient I may purchase the more expensive item, otherwise the cheaper item may end up costing more. Also sometimes it is too complicated to save the money. Carrying a bottle of water for instance, is sometimes very inconvenient, but then if you do not have it and get thirsty some places sell tiny water bottles for over one dollar.

Not really! If I get the perticuler item near my home and comparatively costly and the same item cheafer within 5 - 8 km limit then I may travel to that place, Otherwise I prefer to bye near my home, I cant travel 50 km for any item when both costs same.

If that so i just prefer to buy that guitar in the place where i lived coz if you add all your expenses it's just cost the same. But yes, seeing new places and views were great. Its a good trip anyway.

I think it well depends on how much it costs me between the product in the farther town and the closest one; if they are only couple bucks difference, I odn't think it will be worth to go all the way down the place to get it because it probably won't be able to cover the gas and food fee. But if you talk about it is a new place that might be interesting to go sightsee, it is a different story. :-)

well in this country there is a place where they will sell all things in a cheaper price because it is where the ships drop off their shipment and stuff. it is usually 1 hr trip but it's all worth it

I don't usually travel to a far place just to buy something that is cheaper there. I did that once. At the end of the day, the money I saved in buying the thing in the far place just went to my gas. To add, it was too much of a hassle and a waste of time for having spent hours going to the place. Maybe if there were a lot of friends who accompanied me, it would be alright. But when I made that trip, I had only one friend who went with me. Also, the place we went to was not really much of a place with a nice scenery.

i guess if you are travelling just for the item, it might be not worth it. but,if you have any other work in that area and you are able to lucb it with this purchase, it is worthwhile. and, in your case too, since you did enjoy the travel, it was some experience too. so it is not such a bad thing after all.

I don't really do that... unless i am looking for something of more quality... and would save me more money... if that is not the case... then i would rather just buy the one that is available nearby... might cost more... but it will surely save me a lot of time and stres...

Sometimes we go to the outlet mall. But honestly you are right once you factor in gas, meals, and time you could of found similar or the same thing locally for the same price or just watched the sales.

According to me i will considered that man as fool whose goes to a very long distance to buy something cheaper. I know everyone wants to save money from any sied but one thing which is must to remember which is if one goes so far then one must buy various things so that it collectively saves the large amount of money.

I don't do that, there are lot of cheap store near my place. And if I will travel far, I used to go to the mall and not in the cheap place. But it's fun buying a cheaper price in cheaper store, i'll just choose the quality.
