What is the first thing you do during brownout in your home?

The first thing that I do during brown out is to pause, and then raise my hands, and dance. Just Kidding. I usually turn my phone's light to guide me through the dark way. And then find the candles and ligth them. And then I pull the plugs off especially the fridge's plug. We don't have flashlights because it was broken a long time ago. Anyway, I don't like brown outs..

I'm looking for anything that can give me an alternative light so I can see. If the brownout will last for hours, I will unplug all the electronics and appliances or even switch off the main switch. If not, I'll just leave it right there..

First job I would do is to look outside the window or door to check on whether it was just my home that has had a power cut, or if the whole street has been affected. If it's just mine , I then check the fuse box and all electrical points, also smelling for any burning which maybe an indication of what has happened. If it's the whole street that has been effected by a black-out then I just light some candles and wait for power to be restored.

oh well, the first thing i do when the electricity cuts off...i pause a while and sigh! then, i unplug all the things that needs to be unplug and looks for a candle! actually i keep the candle and the matches in a place where i can easily find it...but if its dark the time the brown out occurs...well like you i uses the light of the cellphone, since i don't have a flashlight at home... and then, if i don't have anything to do, i just talk to my husband or sometimes go out to talk with my neighbors and wait till the power comes back...i like to be outside when brown out because its so hot inside the house...

It depends on where I am in the house and on what I am doing when the brownout hits. If there is a brownout while I am in the bathroom, of course, my priorities would be different if I get caught while working on the computer. Getting candles or reaching for a flashlight would not be an appropriate first thing to do when the brownout happens during the day. :D

I think unplug all the electronic connection is a smart thing to do. I have flashlights at home so i think use it will be a good idea too. Well, it depends on how long are you going to stay at dark. Becasue you are going to sleep anyway, right? lol

For me first thing to do i to unplug the current connection and switch off the fuse, and look for the candle, if ever very dim in our house and fast night it happened.
