I think you all should have to pay my medical bills. Afterall, you can afford it. If you don't pay my medical bills you are greedy and heartless. I think that anyone not willing to pay my medical bills for me should lose their house and/or get thrown in prison.

Well because the system is so messed up as it is, I can't pay for my own medical bills really (all of my savings from my last job have 80% gone towards my inhalers, I did a little audit the other night) and from time to time, I have to ask for money from my parents for it, and I just have asthma, but I cannot afford health insurance because of my asthma, and I do not fit any of the current categories for aid.

You shouldn't have to ask your parents for help, you should just threaten people with their houses if they don't pay for your inhalers.

btw, what is the shame in your parents being able to be there for you?

My parents spent years having to pay off the bills from my week long hospital stay when i was younger, I had a major asthma attack and we didnt have any insurance because we couldn't afford it, and so that is part of why I feel bad about asking for money for it because they already sacrificed so much for me in their lives.

Funny you should mention people losing their houses... Can I ask you a question (since you didn't ask one in your OP anyway)? Do you think our medical system needs to be changed at ALL? Or do you think it is fine just the way it is? If you do think it should be changed, what changes should be made and how should they be implemented?

I think there are a lot of problems with our medical system. However, politicians don't seem to care about fixing the problems unless it means more money and power for themselves.

That was not what I asked. I asked what you think should be changed, if anything should be changed. You are very vocal about this issue, but I haven't really heard you say anything constructive or anything that would let someone know what you think should be done.

You really wanted and exhaustive "White Paper" report on what I feel are the problems in our medical system?

I am sooo hoping you are being sarcastic. I am going to assume it because I know you. But good one. YOu sound like most of the people out there calling for national healthcare. They remind me of small children. YOu know they want something and don't care who gets hurt or what gets taken from who as long as they get it. Some people never grow up. Why pay for something if you can make someone else pay for it for you.I am guessing that is their motto.

we are all just working folk just trying to get by. But honestly I don't trust the government with my healthcare or my money. Look at all the other gov. programs. They have run them into the ground. they have been mismanaged and tons of money has been wasted. Who ends up getting the short end of the stick? We the american public does. I agree an overhaul needs to be done. But I think the less the government is involved and the less money they get the better.

I think if you're poor, and if it means getting $20 taken out of our paychecks every other week, why not? United we stand, right? I'm not opposed to it at all. To me, it's a solidarity thing. It almost reminds me of the reduced-price lunches that we could get back in middle & high school if we couldn't afford to pay full-price. I don't know what me & my family would have done at that point if Americans with more money than us didn't pay their taxes. I probably wouldn't have been able to eat.

I'm not sure what kind of a response you are looking for here. Do you have a question for us? Are you disabled? Why do you feel the rest of us should have to pay and why do you assume we can afford it?

Why not, Obama and his minions seem to think that everyone can afford to pay my bills for me. Why do you think they assume everyone else can afford it?

I'll pay your medical bills when I'm done paying my medical bills. Unless you want to pay my medical bills, too?

It is beneath you to pay your own medical bills! The new "right" way is to threaten your neighbors if they refuse to pay your bills for you. :~D

Just move to Canada. I dont pay when I go to the hospital. Its really sad thinking about the american health care system. No offence to anyone out there. But when were sick, we go to the hospital, then come out, not spending a penny. I had pneumonia and was in and out of the hospital when all I could think about was whoa, if I was american my family would be like 30,000 in debt for this. Its rediculous, to be that sick and not able to do anything bout it? Bet canada is sounding pretty good right now, I heard the UK is even better.

You do pay when you go see a doctor. You also pay when you don't. We pay when we see a doctor, but also when we don't. But our system of paying for insurance is voluntary, not by force. We do have government systems that use our tax dollars to pay for low income, disabled and the elderly also. Our system does have problems and can use some overhauling, but so does yours. Btw, your tax money also pays for Canadians to come to the US to use our system when your system is overloaded, or your fellow countrymen has a disease your government would rather not bother with.

DUDE! I've worked hard to get to where I am now. 4 years of engineering school is NOT easy. NOT cheap either! In fact, I'm freakin' still paying for those student loans. Now I don't have a problem with my student loans, after all I borrowed them. BUT now I have to worry about YOUR medical bills too?? It's not easy being a hard worker either when everyone else around you are just lazying around thinking they have job security. NOPE, not easy! PLUS - I'm already paying the medical bills of Californians that can't work, done with work, etc. Now I don't mind that - after all, they're Californians. And my hard-earned money should stay where I earned it, IN California!

Hi ParaTed, I am feeling generous today, so count me in to pay up. I don't mind losing my house, as I am trying to pare down anyway. If I go to prison I get 3 hots and a cot, so I'd be all set. Thanks man.
