I would be interested to know how many of you listen to Audio Books? Where is the best source for them?

Lately I installed a software for my cellphone. It is a cool software because it can read .txt files for me automatically. The advantage is that it speaks much more like a human being than a machine. So I enjoy listening to the books in these days. I love China

I have listened to them a lot over the years as I had a job that required a long commute and it beat the same old songs all the time.

youless, could you please tell me what software you're using? I've been searching for something like that for a while now... I'd like to use something like that to listen to college courses while doing something else, it will be a well spent time...

Stvasile, if your mobile phone system is above Windows Mobile 5.0, then this software can work. This software is called Voicebook. If you need it, please PM me.

I have never listened to audio books. I just like reading the actual books. I believe one of my aunts downloads them and then puts them on her iPod and listens while she jogs. Have you looked into iTunes? They may have some downloadable audio books. Also, one thing you could do is borrow audio books from your local library. I know the libraries where I live have quite a selection. And if you wanted, you could import the book from the audio cd's onto your computer, then you would have a version of your own on your computer.

I very much enjoy reading but use the Audio Books at time when I can't read. I find they keep me more alert when driving.

I've started listening to Audio Books, and it works out just fine for me. The main reason of listening to audio books is that some books I wanted to read are not yet available in my country. Another reason is I get to listen the books in the language they were written (English, in this case), avoiding translation losses and distortions. Also, when reading a book, you can't do anything much... The audio books you can listen pretty much everywhere, filling up the time spent on the road, for example... Not to mention I can't afford buying too many books, and I like reading... Listening to audio books helps a lot, since they are available for free on some sites.

I listen to audio books quite often, even though I prefer to read the book myself I just don't always have time. Anyway, I don't buy them I borrow them from my local library. The usually have the most popular ones available,if not then I will add that book to my long TBR list. So go to your library and see what they have and if they don't have what you want ask if they can get it for you. This way you will save money and still get the book you want. If that doesn't work do an online search for audiobook sellers. Best of luck

The problem I have with our library is they have a large collection of books on tape and only a few on CD's.
