I think that Oxford far out weighs the other brands of dictionary in terms of quality and reliability. Sure there are a few times when other dictionariies give a better defination but still Oxford is the one. Which brand dictionary do you use? Which brand do you think is the best?

Even though I know Oxford is definately the best, i cannot tear myself away from Webster's. I feel like im cheating on Webster's when i use a different dictionary.. lol.

I like Oxford, but for daily use, I actually like COllins Cobuild, don't know why... simple explanations, I guess.

Ok. Doubt I have a collins dictionary anymore. Those were the ones we were required to have in primary school though. One collins dictionary. That was always on our booklist.

For learning a second language I find that the Oxford learner's dictionaries are the best as the grammar tables in the back are clear and precise and the vocabularly sections makes use of the words in context to give familiarity of usage. I also use the Collin's dictionaries as a second choice.

Hi Thea . I remember using Collins way back in primary school. It must have been good as it was the require dictionary back then. Now every schools booklist I see as for Oxford. Thanks for sharing

Langenscheidt Dictionary - Langenscheidt Dictionary Cover(English-German)
Apart from Oxford, Langenscheidt dictionaries are also pretty good. You can find them for many languages, which is a definite plus. However, i do not use a dictionary since i have internet and i'm too lazy to search for a word on a dictionary when i can simply type it to worldwide web;)

Even I think Oxford is the best. We in India follow the UK English so as it is we rely on Oxford Dictionaries. These have good words and help you develop a really impressive vocabulary. Oxford - way to go! :)

Hello tjades this is checkmail and do prefer to use Oxford Dictionary for use while doing my work.Oxford dictionary is so what called famous and accurate also, it has got some of the advance as well as past words in it, with simple grammer's. Oxford dictionary follows the simple language translations, so its easy to adapt it.I think Oxford Dicionary s the best available dictionary currently.
