Maximo Park gave a brilliant first performance....

We had a real treat around 4pm, Thursday afternoon, when the first live act for Glastonbury 2009 made the stage. It was at the Queen's Head (a popular pub name in England) marquee, with had stunning visuals, as pictured in the photo below. I was not so familiar with their music, so didn't quite know what to expect (though had heard the name before). A real big crowd built up, that probably wouldn't have shamed the Pyramid stage. My music descriptive vocabulary is not so wide, suffice to say that Maximo had a lively, rocky, but not too heavy style which was very engaging. Later in the festival, I went to see them again, when they were on the "Other stage" - which is pretty big!The excellence and variety of music was definitely the highlight of the festival for me. For theme park decadence, Trash City, Arcadia and Shangri La made for indulgent amusement. Did you go to Glasto; this year or previous years? Or have you gone to other festivals? Tell me your biggest enjoyments.....
