fresh fruit expensive

considering the government is bringing out all these adverts and slogans about getting your 5 a day and eating more healthier, well they haven't thought about the fact that its so expensive, cherries e.g. are about 5 pound for a small bag where i used to work people would ask me to check how much they were before they bought them. It only seems to be people on benifits that recieve vouchers for fresh fruit and veg but most of them use them to buy alcohol

I think the price in my country is reasonable. ( I live in Malaysia). I have one suggestion if it is possible maybe you can try growing your own fruits?? That way you won't ever have to buy from the store anymore. Just a thought.

Fresh fruits are expensive, but better in general. If you can afford it, then choose to buy it, but if you can not, try to buy those which is near in quality as the fresh fruits.

Yes, many fresh fruit items are very expensive. Here in N.M. USA the cherries have been $3.99 a pound this season but for the 4th of July, Independence Day, celebration they are on sale with store having a three days sale at $1.69 per pound and another a week long sale at $1.88 per pound. I don't know what the exchange rate is right now but think it takes considerably more than a dollar to equal a pound, maybe even double.
