I guess this is probably more about repeat threads than Palin, but her name seems to bring people in to a thread so I included it. I logged in this morning to see what was being said and found 10 threads in a row all on the matter, 8 of them were pretty much the same thing, "Palin resigns" I was hoping each would have it's own aspect of the story, but nope......all simply "Palin resigns" So I guess I won't start an 11th on the topic, instead I started on on the topic of the topic. /rant

I was thinking very similar thoughts. An hour after the news broke I think there were five quick posts all in politics section. It would have been better for MyLot, I think, if these had been spread out into other categories. There are only, what, 20 or so of us active in "politics" daily? I wonder if the "general public" even cares about this story. It knocked Michael Jackson from the headlines, but that was slipping anyway. I still don't know if Palin deserves this high level of publicity.

like I said in the above comment, right now it is nothing more than a governor of a state I don't live in resigning.

was thinking about doing something similar but you got in first. she certainly seems to attract lots of attention but i have this strange feeling that there are other stories today also relevant to this section

yeh, there are far more important things right now. Unless anything develops later, this is pretty much just a governor of a state I don't happen to live in resigning.

I'm one of your friends who started one of those threads, as you know since mine is one you've already responded to. I know there has certainly been a lot of pretty much duplicate discussions about the same topic but in all honesty I was online and listening to the TV news at the same time the other day when the announcement broke about first her saying she wasn't running for a second term and then that she was going to resign. I rewound my DVR to make sure I heard it all right and then listened and watched for a few more minutes before I checked the new political discussions and there were none about it at that time. I then posted my discussion and when I submitted I discovered there were now a few others. Obviously several of us were typing about the same thing at the same time. I guess there are different aspects to discuss but I think everyone wanted to use a title that would get attention from those who hadn't been watching the news, which on a Friday of a holiday weekend I kind of assumed there would be quite a few! Anyway, since this story is far from over and we're no doubt going t be hearing about it in the media for days or weeks to come I expect to see some "Not another Palin thread about not another Palin thread about another not another Palin thread, etc., etc., etc..." If you watch Fox News or the BBC on PBS, you're going to get different stories, but I've heard that the rest of the news media's coverage of news is suspect. I wouldn't know, I don't watch them. If it is so, that could be the reason we are being bombarded with Michael Jackson and Sarah Palin.
