From The London Times: Outside the Bristol Zoo, in England , there is a parking lot for 150 cars and 8 coaches or buses. It was manned by a very pleasant attendant with a ticket machine charging cars £1 (about $1.40) and coaches £5 (about $7). This parking attendant worked there solid for all of 25 years. Then, one day, he just didn't turn up for work. "Oh well," said Bristol Zoo Management - "we'd better phone up the City Council and get them to send a new parking attendant..." "Err ... no," said the Council, "that parking lot is your responsibility." "Err ... no," said Bristol Zoo Management, "the attendant was employed by the City Council, wasn't he?" "Err ... NO!" insisted the Council. Sitting in his villa somewhere on the coast of Spain, is a bloke who had been taking the parking lot fees, estimated at £400 (about $560) per day at the Bristol Zoo for the last 25 years. Assuming 7 days a week, this amounts to just over £3.6 million ($7 million)! And no one even knows his name I'm not promising that this is a true story - - - but it COULD be!!!! This must have been the longest running scam ever. I wonder if he thought he would do this for 25 years or if he just tried it one day and since no one complained he decided to keep it up? This just goes to show if you don't get greedy anything is possible.

Hi savak, well guess it could well be possible especially if the place for a parking lot attendant was free and needed, so this man would of been in his glory especially thinking that 25 years ago even the law about work etc was a lot more 'lax' then than it is now in the UK...LoLo

I saw this story a few weeks back and at first I thought that the guy that did this should be ashamed of himself for conning everyone for so long; but then I kept thinking about it and came to the conclusion that he worked his butt off all those years for the money and is obviously extremely entrepreunerial, so good for him! The bugger should've paid taxes though. I bet there'd be a line of people fighting to now take over the job too! lol.

Now that's a scam! I think I'll find a lonely parking lot and an orange vest. See ya.
