What the Fark!?

Have you ever been Farkled? I have, and I HATE it! Ok, so for those of you who don't know what farkle is, it is a dice game. I have played this game for years... just about every time I am visiting my dad, only we call it something else. My sister called the game to my attention on facebook, and like the idiot that I can be, sometimes, I went to check it out....and got hooked on it. For those of you who play, do you take "risks" when you are rolling, or do you play it safe? For those of you who haven't played, What the heck are you waiting for, go farkle yourself!

I gotta be honest, Farkling is not something that features on my list of life experiences but it's certainly going on my "To do List"!! I've shuffled off to the search engines to find out how to and, luckily, we already have the basic equipment in the house. It was comforting to discover that there are a number of online locations where I can go for a virtual Farkle should I find myself at a loose end and, I shall look forward to being able to reply to the question "Did you do anything exciting on your weekend off?" with an innuendonous (if it isnt a word, it should be!)review of the Joy of Farkling. Obviously I would need to demonstrate the actions involved since I'm a gesticulator (but that's a whole new discussion best saved for after the watershed..) What a great ice-breaker that would be..."You wanna farkle with me???"

What a great ice-breaker that would be..."You wanna farkle with me???" Yeah, I think I would be careful who I said it to, though!

Damn that friggin' game and the horse it rode in on! It suckered me in as well and as much as I can't stand Facebook, I've gone on there a few times in the last week just to play this game! I managed to lose interest and walk away; and the next thing you know, some turd beat my score so I had to go back and play it again! May I join your idiot club? I have all the qualifications!

Heeeee! Yeah, the more the merrier. I hate being an idiot by myself! I love playing the game with friends and family, in real time, and I am usually the one saying, Just one more game! But, I really hate being farkled, especially on the very first roll! Or, when I have high points and decide to go just one more time, and lose it all. I don't think I am as competitive as you, though. But, time will tell on that. I just have to get a high enough score to beat someone else out of one of the top 5 spots amongst my friends, then we'll see.

I've ALWAYS been competitive when it comes to inane crap like this and it's frustrating as heck! My Wife is the same too and she'll call me in the middle of the day just to tell me she's beaten my score on some game or another. I'll then go hard until I'm number 1 again. This has gone on for years now!

I had no idea what 'Farkle' was till a 'panda spanking friend' and his wife sent me some chips. I tried it out....still have no clue how to play the game...but I still fall under the idiot category because I'm trying to figure it out and can't walk away...lol hmmm...I'm on my way right now to play a game....not that I can beat ANYONE's score...I just hope I beat mine:P

To answer your question, I play it safe most of the time and take risks only sometimes.

*L* I know, that is all I seem to be stretching for the past few days, just to beat my own high score. Although, there are a couple of very competitive people on my list of friends who seem intent on beating me.

So, is this game limited only on facebook or can you play it with normal dice as well? It sounds interesting and I could use this as a means of entertainment at my house.

We just bought some dice and I got the rules from my dad. Like I said, I just keep the rules and dice in a drawer and when we need the rules, we don't have to try to remember the point system, they are right there with the dice. The same rules apply both on line and in real time. It is fun when you get a lot of people playing. I think you can find the rules on Wikepedia. And, there is an online version that isn't on facebook. There is a link to that in the post above this one. The rules are listed there, as well.

I know that you can buy and/or make a farkle game, because I have bought a game. However, I'm sure that thebohemianheart will respond soon to let us know if the online version is limited only to facebook members. I'm excited to find out!

I bought a mini farkle set last summer to take on a family vacation to the Bahamas. At that time, my family was addicted to the card game Phase 10. (Anyone, Anyone?) However, we opened it up and the directions seemed so darn confusing, we put the dice back in the container and I haven't looked at it since. Is the version you play online only for facebook (I'm not on facebook)? If not, I would like an invite to play, please. Maybe if I can figure out how to play online, I can show my family how to play live together? THANKS:)

I did find an online game that is not on facebook. http://www.tams11.com/farkle/farkle.shtml Once you get going, it's really not hard to understand the rules. I have a sheet of paper that I wrote the rules down on. I keep it in the drawer with the dice so that when a new person plays, they can look at it during the game, if they need to.

It's really just a game of dumb luck.*L* The only time I really get frustrated is when I have 8 farkles out of 10 rounds, and there is really nothing I can do about changing it.

Well, it went OK - got frustrated easily because I thought I had a few three of a kinds and the points didn't add up. I need to try it again later with some more patience. I'll keep you posted :) Thanks for sharing!!!!

LOL! Luckily, for me, I haven't gotten too addicted to this game. I still play every once in a while, though. I'm one that is NOT a risk taker. I play it safe and don't like to "gamble". I lose too much in that stupid game anyway! LOL Even playing it safe!

I know what you mean about losing. We used to play poker with toothpicks. It drove me insane to lose even one of them. I can't imagine going to a casino and losing my money for no good reason. *L*

I just LOVE that game. It is absolutely fantastic. I have been playing it for quite some time and i never get bothered. Anyways it is a bit of a shame that you got hooked on it because now you won´t manage to get out (at least i have never been). I really reccomend it, since it includes lots of luck and adrenaline, so it quite interesting. To whomever doesn´t know it (that is a crime!) you can check out what it is about right here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farkle I usually play it with some friends and it helps us to strenghten "friendship ties". I urge you all to play it people, it is great. People that already play tell me your experiences! And those who don´t, try and tell me how it gone! Best regards
