Are you the next big star?

I am an avid fan of all singing contest worldwide. Just recently, while watching a Philippine show in pinoychannel.com and about to watch the part 2 of the show because it was broken down into few parts. I suddenly click another show because I was just curious what is this show all about. I have watched the show and learned that it is about singing competition wherein, a contender with a star quality plus golden voice will receive big amounts of prizes. Because of that, I also followed the show every saturday and began liking contestants. I personally chose Francheska Farr and Rachel Gabreza for the ladies because they have a voice that is really for a singing competition and they actually have the looks. For guys, I chose Jay Perillo because I was his avid fan since he joined star in a million. But I was surprise that when I visit the website called allaboutidolshows.com, one of my favourite participant was eliminated and that is Rachel. I was pretty surprise while there are other contestants who do have looks but really failed in singing. That gives me a question how the show was really judge. After watching the said show, I immediately watched edited clips in youtube to see how the people comment on Rachel`s elimination. People were also disappointed and disagree with the decision. I do hope that the company or the Network will give her an opportunity to share her talent. I know that she can make it as one of the big star in Philippines. I do not understand the mentality of the People in Philippines. They want to have artists who are half blooded American, Chinese, British, and Filipino blood. Why not try the pure Filipino blood regardless of looks but with talents. This always happen and why those networks does not seem to listen to this shoutout. This is one of the reasons why many filipino who does not have the looks but with real good talent, felt like they will never be given any opportunity to shine. What a pity. Anyways, I just showed how I feel about this show and I do hope that they really look for someone who is deserving to win. Not someone who looks really good but does not have real talent. Remember that, Are you the next big star is still a singing competition. In the end, they cannot promote the person who is suppose to win to record songs but failed to gain the attention of the public. Happy Mylotting Have a nice day Jeff

You have a nice point, very well, I agree with that, but let me explain something. You cannot be called a star if you don't have the looks and the convincing talent. If you have the face and a not-so-excellent talent, you can be a star. Handlers will just help the person build and improve himself for them to make it. But take note that there are also previous personalities who made their name in the singing industry even without the face, but most of them did not come from singing contests. In UK, I thik I found a similar example, through Susan Boyle. She is an old woman, with an ordinary face and life. She joined in a kind of a competition and before she sang, she was laughed at by the crowed so loudly. I think its not only in the Philippines who has that mentality but also to other countries. In India, you can't be a star if you don't know how to act, how to sing, and how to dance, and of course, if you don't have the face.

Are you the next biggest star? Hey friend, you are right, one must be able to act, sing and dance in order to become a big star. Not to mention, having good looks would come in very helpful. But you mentioned Susan Boyle, a woman with average looks. There is always Jennifer Hudson, with average looks. Heck even Whitney Houston only have average looks. But let me just say that a person's looks can be improved upon. The main thing is to have the talent. The talent will carry you a whole lot further than the looks here in my country.

I will disagree at some point. There are many people who looks good. But they were not given attention as the people who watch will be the judge. There are so many people who really looks almost perfect, but when they start to do their talent, eveyone will just be disappointed and will definitely look down to the person. A face is just a face. But a talent is something to be treasured. A talent is very unique and not everyone blessed with a certain talent. As what you are saying that handlers or promoters can build their talent, but we know that there are talents that is natural and does not need to learn. Also, not all talents can be learn. There are certain talents that only certain people can do, therefore, we cannot just sell our face to the public. Still, we are talking about a singing competition. Then the viewing public will rate the network as bad, since the main talent that a contestant should have is the singing. I know Susan Boyle. She does not have the looks but with a singing talent. Therefore, she was given more attention because the public really appreciated her and the media plucked to interview her. Yet, you are correct that not only Philippines has the mentality of choosing a talent. But thank you very much for making a great respond to this post. Have a nice day and Happy Mylotting my friend Keep posting Jeff

Are you the next big star? Hello Friend, Thanks for your post and for the update on Phillipino singers. That is the sad truth about singing contest. One just never really know what qualities the judges might really be looking for. Anyhow I just wanted to say that the newest show over here is called dreammaker. Oh how I love that show. It is almost better than American Idol. If it comes there I do hope you will get to check it out. I'm sure that you will love it just like I do. Maybe one day I will see you on american idol. I just hope that the best person wins. Well Micheal Jackson was a great singer and I have been feeling a little bit down every since his passing away. I haven't even been feeling much like singing. Can you believe that???

Hello My friend. Have you watched my videos in youtube? I remember you wanted to see them. Have you give some comments. I actually have four videos there and I will be updating and posting more videos by next week because I am currently busy these past few days. Anyways, thank you for participating in this discussion about being the next big star. I personally believe, you really wanted to be a singer since I have watched you videos in youtube and I enjoeyed it. I will search that dreamaker show you are saying. Because you just mentioned that is it almost better than American Idol. American Idol is my best singing show so far and maybe when I check that show you are saying, I can change my mind. Lol. But let me have a look first. Haha, I really hope to join in American Idol but unfortunately, I am not from America. I am from Switzerland and we do not have a Swiss Idol here. I think they will start something almost like American Idol. Then I will get the chance to showcase my talent. I also hope that the best person will win in any singing competition. You just mentioned Michael Jackson. My heart is crying again. I really miss his music. I am actually planning to watch his show in UK but since I heard about the news, I will never get the chance to see him in person. But my friend, thank you for taking time making three responses to this discussion. I really appreciate you very much. Have an nice my friend. Happy mylotting Jeff

Are you the next big Star? Hi Jeff, excuse me for getting the Show wrong. So they do have a show there in Switzerland that is just like american idol, right? That is very good because once it hit ur country then other countries will begin to follow suit and will begin to want to compete. Tonight I watched America's got talent. Boy it was such a drab until the very end. A seventeen year old girl came up and wiped everybody out. I could tell that she'd had voice lessons. If you haven't had them yet you should get them because it will really make a huge difference in the way that you sound and your confidence level as well. Finally this guy came on and he took the stage. His voice was a baratone, so the audience simply feel in love with him. I'm more of a soprano singer, I think, what about you? Anyhow I will go and watch those videos of yours tomorrow the very next time that I get online. I"m too sleepy to enjoy them right now. Take care and have a great night, keep singing and keep mylotting. It's been nice talking with you. take care........

Hi, I am from the Philippines and I really thank you for having time to watch shows in the Philippines. It is normal to feel bad when your bet for a conpetition lose. I understand your frustration but rest assure that the judges in the competition you are watching are being fair with all the contestants. So dont feel bad about it. And honestly, whoever wins in that contest I am sure he/she will be a big star. It's because Filipinos are very talented. Again, Thank you for patronizing us. Happy myloting.

Thank you very much too for being the first person to respond to this discussion. You are definitely correct regarding what you have said. In fact, it is just sometimes really not good to watch shows wherein, you personally believe that a person with a talent, being eliminated, and does not given any oppotunity is also affect the viewers. I myself, joined a singing competition, won some and lose some. Sometimes, acceptance is very difficult really. Why? Because you really not certain how judges judge a competition. Different people have different perspective and different views. But they should also sight how the public accept a contestant. What I am trying to say is that, when someone is really obvious, with a face but no talent, then there is no point in giving that person a second chance to move on. As what I have mentioned, it is still a singing contest and looks will just be another impact. Yet, many not so good looking singers now adays are well apreciated. Thank you. HAPPY MYLOTTING. have a nice day ahead Jeff

Haha. What I can say is that, if you know what a discussion all about, then do post and make some comments. But I personally believe that you have not read the content that is why, you just answer the big question or the title. Hehe. Anyways, everyone is a star, as what our parents always say, my kid is a star! I can also say I am a star to my parents. I thank you for participating in this discussion. Happy Mylotting and Keep posting. We almost have the same post or discussions in terms of how many we had for the past few weeks, or months. Once again thank you. Have a nice day ahead. Jeff
