I thought it was disgraceful the way the Tea Party participants were treated during the April 15th tea parties. They got bad press and even some lewd and vulgar comments from bloggers. However, it appears the July 4th Tea Parties have gotten more attention. I think the movement is growing and the MSM is starting to take notice. Some positive media coverage for a conservative cause is a breath of fresh air in my opinion. Take a look at this segment from CNN:

I think if we want this to get even more posative attention we must stop refering to it as a "conservative" movement. It is in actuality a libertarian and patriotic movement. the terms conservative and liberal have little genuine place in discussions on matters of governance. and using the term "conservative movement" automatically assigns a republican taint to it, in fact one republican representative was booed off a stage at one.

The Tea Party organizers are promoting them as an "American movement." However, since the Democratic Party is in control of the Oval Office and Congress at present, many people probably think it is a conservative movement. A lot of people are in denial at this point and still think the huge spending spree and resulting taxes will be a good thing.

clrumfelt, I am blaming the republican establishment for the perception of the tea parties being a republican movement just as much as I blame a biased media and democrat dominated government. They have shamelessly hijacked the movement.

The parties are not parties in the classical sense being a social event of fun and entertainment. Many of the people there went to great lengths to attend them and get their voices heard by the government. Some missed work to be there. Some traveled a long way from home to be there and make a statement of their distress concerning the policies being enacted on our country by our government without the will of the people.

This is quite interesting because just the other day I read on the Huffington Post that no one was going to attend, that they had run out of steam and basically scoffed at the whole idea of Americans protesting against taxes. Those silly taxpayers and the crazy antics they get up to...
Imagine the HuffPo being wrong! *giggle*

It was just wishful thinking by the Huffington Post. I'm sure they hope the Tea Parties will just go away.

Do you know why there is positive coverage? Its because the liberal media is starting to understand that conservatives are a vast majority. Dorkbama did not win by a landslide like they want you to think he did, it was pretty much split down the middle. Now those who realize that we have an unqualified president in the casa blanca are starting to rise up and demand the government we should have. I think its great that this nation still has that power.

Thanks for commenting. I agree with you, our nation still has the power for the people to take back the government that is supposed to work for them. That is the way a democracy is supposed to work.

It's good to see that the movement is getting more attention. I went to one down here in Florida back in April and they had a good turnout but I wasn't able to go to the July 4th. event because I had my baby granddaughter all day. I will be attending the next one though and I anticipate an even larger turnout.

I'm glad you were able to attend the one in April. Since the Tea Parties have become such a large movement and are gaining steam, they are really too big for the MSM to ignore now. Why would they want the give bad coverage and alienate such a large segment of their viewers?

I'm glad that the July 4th Tea Parties have gotten more attention, I would have liked going to one of Sean Hannity's Parties, but his are so far away, and it isn't a good time right now. I sure hope that more people wake up and know the truth. Thanks.

I live in a very rural area far from the cities where the Tea Parties are held so I can attend them either. I would like to attend one sometime. They are planning another for September.
