Ryanair wants passengers to stand during its flights so the budget airline can squeeze more people on board! They said this would result in a 20 percent cut in costs. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1197799/Ryanair-make-passengers-stand-bid-cram-board.html

Standing during turbulence would be dangerous. I wonder if travel insurance companies would be happy if passengers stood up. Elderly people, pregnant ladies, the infirm and young children wouldn't want to stand up. I am weak at the moment and if made to stand I would faint. I am not interested in cutting 20% off the fares. The seats in Ryan Air are crammed in so they carry many passengers already. The latest proposals of budget airlines are really silly.

Dealing with the baggage sounds like a nightmare. If it costs one pound to visit the toilet that would be unfair. The budget airlines are getting worse.

I have read on another article today that they would sit on something like a bar stool which is still uncomfortable, however I suppose there will still be normal seating for the infirm, elders etc. I still cannot imagine how you will arrive at your destination after about 2hours sitting on a bar stool.

I know - it is totally ridiculous and they are just going o eventually get rid of passengers not gain them! It's a shame they fly to some of the destinations that other airlines don't!

That's true and it is cheaper than our airline so some people prefer Ryanair. Personally I have never used it yet but a friend of mine said its good and with the extra baggage charges it was still cheaper.

I doubt this idea is ever going to happen..It's probably just another free publicity seeking stunt by O'Leary to raise the Airline's profile.. Apart from the safety aspect (can these upright rests withstand the legislated G-force requirements with a passenger strapped to them, and how much reinforcing (read "weight") would it take to bring them to spec.?) also, the aircraft types are rated/limited to carry a certain number of passengers..so there's no way they'd be allowed to exceed the number of passengers by making better use of the interior space! Not to mention the decreased efficiency of the aircraft by needing more fuel to carry the extra weight of more passengers and the additional baggage that would then be aboard.. What??? Isn't that dangerous? I think this would be more costly for them. More injuries may result in this because of more possible lawsuits filed by passengers and families. Besides who could stand up for that long on a plane? I would get airsick!

I can;t imagine a 3 hour flight sitting on some kind of stool!! They said that some Chinese airline already got this approved. I hope the Authorities will be 100 percent sure before approving such thing
