"Work at home" - what's your motivation?

July 6, 2009 4:56pm CST
Okay so I'm a newbie at this. And I know that personally, the "work at home" concept doesn't have massive appeal to me. I'm a student, there's no need for me to stay at home, I just can't find a single oppurtunity out there at the minute! So I guess for me, the motivation would be desperation haha! Would be interested to understand a little more about why people feel the need to sign up for things like this? And perhaps more importantly whether there is genuinely anything to be gained from it?

I just can't land a job. I've been trying and applying, and I'm willing to work hard. I want to turn my effort into money, I would be willing to do almost anything, but the job market is such a pain all over, and where I live especially. So this is a last resort to try and earn some money.

I think work at home it's very boring and stay closed in a house working when in other work you can work at fresh air and work at home you work to who? To yourself maybe and clean up the floor or wash the clothes. To work at home just work in the computer

Hello bex261 and mylot friends this si checkmail and know what motivates to work from home.I myself am a student and also would not like to stay home to earn some money. But there are various reasons whcih motivates me to work from home.As I am a student I don't find it easy to adjust between office and studies so I have to quit office. But while studying you also get a lot of spare time which you may utilise properly. There is also problem of various extra expenses of myself for which I would like to earn from home at my comfortable time.So work from home eases me on part of my earning capacity to some extent and donesn't remain a burden on me.I enjoy earning from my home at my time, though got to earn enough.Still can manage some of my total expenses.Basically it also gives you confidence that you are able to earn something for ourself. I think earn from Home is a great Idea which may be profitable in end if implemented sucessfully. GoodLuck for earning from Home.

When the rope is tight and pocket empty, you feel the need to make something and find some other ways for income. Many of this work at home are scams, but if you do not mind searching you will eventually find something good. My country does not have things like this, we are a little behind from the rest of the world. I would like to be able to work extra, my kid wants food milk and toys...I can do without most of the needs, but my little one does not.... I eat less, smoke a lot less, drink only the water I feel I need...things like that. It's a hard life in my country (Romania) most because politicians and business men steal a lot. That's why some work at home is good. No cost for transportation, you eat at home (no expensive junk food) etc. Check my profile for some "easy" income like this site.

My motivation is my daugther. She just turned 10 months and my fiancé had lost his job many occasions and I'm the only financial resource. The economy is terrible and after giving birth to my daugther. I had to go back to work three weeks after having her. Because my fiancé had no job. I want to be a stay at home mother and be the best role model for her.

Work at home/ work in general is some thing that you will never ever understand how much it is important and vital unless you need MONEY for your self or for you family, especially if you have kids, god only know how you feel when you have a kid that is asking you for some thing and you cant afford it, it is the worst, no words can describe that feeling ever. From another point of view for working at home aside from the family and kids fact, it is not a bad idea, why not working from the comfort of your home, what is bothering about that, it is the most appealing idea ever you would thing off, so people searching for opportunity to work from home will never end and you will be the luckiest person if you find one, plus doing this thing, I mean the writing and responding to your question right now is just joyful. Get to know how people think and how they react and have more friends.

There are a lot of reasons why people opt to work at home. Please don't tag working at home as a deperate measure. I gather since you are young, your needs have been provided for by your parents without any difficulty. Not everyone has your luck and blessings. My only "motivation" as you call it, working from home, is because I am caring for my mother who has cancer. She needs to have someone to look after her and her needs, something I cannot entrust to househelp or relatives. I cannot afford a private nurse. So I had to quit my high paying job in order to look after her. My brothers who work abroad are the ones who are shouldering most of the expenses since the money that I earn from sites such as mylot are just enough for my personal needs.

I believe the term work at home is meant for housewives and those members that do not have the opportunity to seek job outside. Like for instance, disabled and etc. I respect these people, because they have the desire to make something work. Get some income through online means. It's definitely not easy to work at home and it needs some kind of motivation. Some of us are working and having the tiny bits of time here and there to log onto mylot and participate. At our leisure. It will become a bit tiring when you need to rely on something for an income. So doing things for extra earnings is good. I have the stress at work to deal with and having mylot to distress is great. But I can't say the same for everyone because some stay at home moms for instance, are trying their best to get an income online to help their family and etc. So I applaud their roles there. It needs some kind of motivation, I agree with your discussion but as time goes by, it becomes easy. Students can find lots of educational stuff by 'working at home' too, while they have some time off from studying or when there's no school. They could work from home and benefit rather than hang out at malls or with friends and spending unnecessarily. This is what I think. But different people might have a different take though. Take care...

There are many reasons we are here in the internet above all of these reasons perhaps is to entertain ourselves from some boredom moment, we spend time for browsing, chatting, blogging, researching among other things, but I realized one thing, why should I do all these things having fun and earning at the same time ? Isnt it more fun much more reasonable? Work at home and doing online job for me is more fun without having too much pressure, meeting people, enjoying life. That's why I'm motivated to be able to "work on line".

Hello bex261 Welcome to mylot, what is my motivation you ask. Well I think there are two factors for me. 1. during this recent financial crisis I realize one thing, even though my job is pretty sheltered. The fear of losing my job is very great and the feeling sucks. That is why I want to have an alternative income, even if I should fail, I should be able to get another source somewhere. 2. I have a little girl that is growing up, I would like to spend more time with her, I guess I do not want to miss too much of her growing up.
