Hello my MyLot friends. I was wondering if omne of you out there could maybe give me and answer according to experience or by knowing someone in hte same place as I am in. I want to get a new computer but I am in a quandry. The speed to my dial up internet usually runs about 46.2kps. With this speed I was wondering which would do the best job for me...a deskypo or a laptop. I have wanted a laptop for a long time as alot of the time my health does not permit me to sit in a computer chair for very long and I though if I could have a laptop I would be able to use it in the recliner. So if one of you out there know this answer could you plese share it with me. Thanks in advance. flutterby

Hi Flutterby. I used to have dial-up and it worked about the same for desktop or laptop computers. I finally have DSL, as it came inexpensive with my landline phone through AT&T. It is soooo much faster! I wish you could get something like that. I can even move seveal hundred feet away, unplugged, and my laptop still picks up the signal. Karen

They do have some long phone line cords that would make it more moveable for you :) I have done that in the past.

The desk top or the laptop can not do anything with the internet speed and it depends on your connectivity only.If you need more than you need to change the internet connection only. Both laptop and desktop will perform in the same way for the given speed, if they don't have any problem.

Thannk you so very much for your response. I so wish they would just bring high speed into us and be done with it. I feel like I am living in the dark ages where I live and have been fighting these companies 3 years since I got my first computer to bring in high speed. There are others here besides me that would like to have it also. I am glad that desktop and laptop run the same. I was told by a person who is suppose to know alot about computers (or so he thinks) that you need high speed for a laptop to perform as it should. Thanks again and Happy Mylotting. flutterby
