Who was your favorite character in this movie? Who did you like most, or who did you think was most interesting?

While I like the character of John Coffey (playes by Michael Clarke Duncan who deserved his oscar nomination), I think I like Percy the best. He was the spoiled and cruel one that had high connections to get his job. The one that taunted the prisoners and stepped on the mouse. Doug Hutchinson that portrayed his did a good job making his character totally unlikeable.

I really liked John Coffey. I just wanted to give him a hug or something! But I definitely thought Percy was interesting too- while he was certainly not likable, the character was well acted and it added a lot to the story of the film.

Personally, my favorite character was Del. I know most would probably think that's quite strange considering the fact that he was, you know, a murderer and a rapist, but by the end you get the sense that he really did repent. I don't know, I guess I thought he was a very interesting character. Thanks for starting this discussion, btw!

John Coffey. But you have got to hand it to Wild Bill also. Opposite poles to John Coffey and another great strong character of The Green Mile. The whole film is based around the characters and they all played a fantastic part in the book and film. Del fantastic character along with Mr. Jingles. Another fine character not in for long but strong for the film is the Native American at the start talking about how he was happiest with his wife at 18 just before he was executed. Sets the film up nicely. Can't fault any of the characters and it is very hard to choose between them. All just as good as each other IMO.
