referrals no more?

Hello, I think sometimes on most sites, most online earning enthusiasts are already either a member of the site/program, an ex-member, or just really not interested. As for not wanting to be a referral but wanting to have lots of referrals, think that's just plain greed and selfishness. I mean in practicality, why work for someone when you can work only for yourself..? And, with the good referral schemes, sometimes it feels like you're doing all the work and the referrer doesnt have to do anything because what you get, the referrer also gets in the same amount. One might be discouraged to join such site because it can be a form of underemployment of some sort. Also, it would be nice to be a referral, only if the program is very good and has a 'by invitation only' registration stipulation. Another is that when there is a guarantee that having a referrer means you can have referrals as well.
