This is the reward for conserving energy?

The Wisconsin Public Service Commission has approved a 7% rate increase in our utility bills. Why did the Wisconsin Public Services say they needed this increase? Because we have reduced our consumption of energy to the point that it has effected the WPS bottom line. So, our reward for being more energy conscience is.. we get to pay more for our energy. Thanks a lot Greenies!

this is people taking advantage of the global warming thing. i'm probably your definition of a green monster but i can still see that is unfair - it just means poorer people are going to suffer from it while rich ones won't even notice.

dude..don't feel bad-we just got raised 16%. it's almost like we're being punished for conserving,it pisses me off. the state knows everybody is broke, and yet they keep letting these greedy b*stards give themselves raises.

You know I have thought about this because our bill is now down to like 40 bucks a month and I wondered if everyone did this when Entergy the company in our town would raise it's rates as well. That is just stupid.

The Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal is saying the utility is proposing rate increases and that they may be "politically challenging". This increase may not even happen, and utility rates always go up, what is new? Sounds like an argument for regulating utility companies, smart grid, feed-in-tarrifs, etc. Energy issues are not simple and blaming this on "greenies" is simplifying this way to much. Environmentalists groups around here such as the Citizens Action Coalition have actually fought to keep electricity increases from happening. http://www.jsonline.com/business/50090982.html

The Wisconsin Public Services IS regulated by the government... well, they are on paper, but the commission never learned to tell them "no".

Join the club. It is the same here too. Heck I am trying to conserve as much as I can because our electric company raised rates again (second time in the past 9 months). I am using less and paying more. Who ever is responsible for this needs a HUGE kick in the butt.

This is just another tax without calling it a tax, just like cap and trade. It does just what a tax does, punishes. Just as if you decided to make more money government punish you for making more money, so to your Wisconsin punish you for not decreasing the amount of electricity. If you Parated did not decrease your usage by 7% every percent that you did not decrease would result it an increase in your energy bill. The real thanks so be to pinkies.

Same here. They are raising the rates left and right, one reason or the other. Now it's people don't use enough. Well, duh! We now have to cut back even more. Would be nice if it would just be the x% rate increase, but that affects how much we have to pay on surcharges and taxes, too. I bet you next year they'll raise it by 10% claiming the new energy coal cap whatever that is called. People just dont' realize that we are the ones who'll end up paying for all of that nonsense.

Ted, you need to look at the WPS, and see who is paying for their dinners. Sounds like your local energy company is taking care of the people making the decisions. You should question them about this and see what they have to say. If you have cut your consumption, then your rate should have gone down.
