At what age did you start believing what you believe? Has it been all your life? If you don't believe in anything, at what age did that start?

I am a born Hindu and am still in this religion. I am not a regular practitioner though, but I have been able to inculcate the essence of Hinduism in my daily life and am quite happy with it.

I am Hindu too... not that i an trying to convince you of something, but just trying to debate the point of being "Quite happy with it" thing, Did you mean to say that as you inculcated the essence of Hinduism in your daily life and thus that makes you happy? .... Don't you think Every one who practice their respective religion also think the same about their religion? .... Did you ever try to think about others who are being raped or killed or tortured every day... did god abandon them? and Why? ... I know Hindu myth promotes Karma Theory, but to be honest, don't you think as time is going by (in KALIYUGA) any person living in this world is bound to commit mistakes and thus adding to the burden of KARMA?... Why was the world created at the first place? and who created These Gods?... If they outsted the Time and space then what were they thinking when they created this world? The world no way near looks like a perfect world, With all due respect to you and your religion, I do think that one has to Question their beliefs to test their own faith.

Quite happy…meaning I am happy with the freedom that Hinduism allows me, the liberty and tolerance it promotes. I am glad that I don’t have to pray five times or go to the church every Sunday. I am glad I don’t even have to have any idols and pictures in my house…I believe in monotheist Hinduism i.e God is everywhere and God is life. There is no compulsion in religion…it is for me to interpret my religion as best as it suits me and live my life accordingly…I think only Hinduism allows this freedom. Belief in God if purely personal to me…God (if you believe) is accessible to everybody…rapist, murderers…all can take refuge in God and redeem themselves.

Hinduism also preaches castism, Brahmin, Shudra, Vaishnava and Kshatriya, In India there is quota system depending on the caste the person belongs to.... why..because there is a religion and knowingly or unknowingly many people suffer from it every single day ... I do not see any freedom here Also, I am a brahmin (though it doesn't matter to me) and according to Hinduism Brahmin's are supposed to be Vegeterians only .... isn't it?... I do not see any freedom there.... Dowry system still remains a Stigma in Indian History. During certain days women are not allowed to enter Mandirs .... they think it's a unholy... no freedom there, females were not supposed to enter Hanuman temple without their pallu on their heads, again, no freedom to act. Things have changed just recently just like in any other religions. Nothing to be proud of and about. The point is, Hinduism is no different than any other religion being practiced in world today, its just liberal on some points and rigid on others... Hinduism used to be just like any other religion in old times and promoted Male Chauevism and dominance in the society

I was raised in a catholic school. Since I was a kid I thought of God but was not satisfied let's say "touched". When I was 12, that's 29 years ago I got in touched with Yoga. Deeper teachings that got me closer to God's understanding. I feel more complete with this teachings. God does exist and he will reveal to everyone in a direct relationship.

How do you feel about those whose path does not prescribe a god? I myself am a Buddhist, so a god is just not a part of the picture for me.

All my life untill last 2 years I believed in God ,..., I used to regularly pray and read many religious books but always had been an open minded person, i used to engage myself in debates where the existence of god was being questioned.... also i used to read all other religions and their books. I was never afraid of losing my faith in God or its existence and thus, was always trying to put some logic about his existence Eventually as the time passed by, and as my thoughts became more clearer, I realised there is no God, I am 25 now and as i said earlier, i have read many religious books from many religions and that helped me to conclude; that God does not exist. I am an Athiest and will be one all my lifetime.

Hi NefariousFox, I have had the same belief from very young, as soon as I started primary school I would say. We had endure morning assembley at school where everyone had to lower their heads, put their hands together and repeat 'The Lord's Prayer'. I started to think for myself and wondered what all these children were doing, just following something they were told to do, so they were being indoctrinated without giving any thought to it. As soon as I realised this I kept my head up and didn't join in the prayers and thus my atheistic beliefs were born and I have retained them ever since. I think if more people questioned things there would be a lot more people who share my belief. Our school system did not rear a generation of devout Bible following Christians but it did encourage children to follow something like sheep without ever thinking about it.
