Reverse parking - how many times does it take you?

I don't like to reverse park. I could not make it on first try, always. I've tried many ways to find out what went wrong, but still, my best is always after 3 tries. Lately I go and get my car installed with a reverse sensor. That helps a little. How do you do? How many times does it takes you to do that perfect reverse parking?

Also, I do not the reverse parking very well in the city. You need experience for about 5 years active parking to learn it properly. Also, it is harder to do it if your car have manual shifting of the gears. Regards.

Welcome to the club stmartin. I'm a 10 years experience driver and still I don't do proper parking. By the way, the small fish eye mirror, also known as blind spot mirror, do helps. It magnifies the parking lines so that I could see better. Not sure about you.

In my country, there aren't many small fish eye mirrors. I am not experienced driver i.e I got approximately 5 months experience with driving, and I am doing well now. All about the side parking (or parallel parking) is to find the right angle. But what is the right angle? When you stop next to the car1 which is parallel to your car, and shift the reverse gear, you will see the right angle by seeing on your left side mirror. First, you make whole turn (to the right) of the steering-wheel and then, when you see the right tire of the car2 behind you, you stop, and make the opposite turn of the steering-wheel, and drive until you get between the first and the second car. P.S In my country the steering-wheel is on the left side. Regards.

That sounds like my driving instructor telling me what to do when I get stucked trying to reverse park. How I wish if there is a car which at one push of a button park the car for me.

As many times as possible! I have a valid driving license for more than a decade now. Still have not driven much due to my inability to park properly. I think I need to take a refresher's course.

I thought you have got a 24 hours driver to drive you around. I'm a 24 hours ready driver anytime too. I drive my wife wherever she want to go.

Hi Silverjack, reverse parking is easier for me than side parking. I really hate side-parking, can't seem to be able to judge the angle, where else, reverse parking is more straight forward. But I can't park in just one try; it takes me maybe 2 or 3 tries.

Hi lazeebee, I've yet to comment on side-parking. Like you, I hate it very much. There are times I've to let go a few good parking lots so as not to make a fool out of myself. Especially when there are few cars behind me waiting to go through. My wife will as usual, nag at me.
