I have been experiencing a lot of problems with my anti-virus.I have tried and tested many anti-viruses.Whereas some made my computer too slow, some did not provide adequate protection. Can you please suggest a good anti-virus that will not slow down my pc and at the same time provide great protection from viruses? Can I download such an antivirus free of cost?

There are a couple good ones out there it seems odd but from my research I have found the free ones are the best. If I recall right avg is one of the best. Also as far as paid version one to avoid is the norton I know when I first got into computers everyone recommended this one saying it was the best which is not the truth. What I have found is some of the paying ones have loops where viruses actually are easier to get and then you have to pay the original anti-virus provider to take out what they let in giving you false beliefs of being safe. My point being since I quit using a paid service as such no more viruses. Myself one that I do use is the System mechanic 8 it is like a 5 in one service anti-virus repair and all it does cost but is very nice to have keeps whole computer running on a whole wonderfully

That's the thing about me too AVG and spybot is free I don't think I will ever pay for anti-virus again. Why pay for something you can get for free and it works so well.

yes you can check some free edition from some good brands that normally works for security softwares...so i think for example avg or kaspersky they are ok as products..or even avast or nod they are ok too...normally i don't like much norton security products because they ahve too much bugs but i think that the real important fact is to stay update really often as so you cna ensure you are protected from viruses..

I like kaspersky anti-virus. you can get free trial and then i thing it's $30 per year or something close to that. cheap and it works great. provides a lot of protecting, this company works very hard to find new viruses and spy-ware and find a way to fix it.

I just went to your website. Very nice! Last week, I ran SuperAntiSpyware on it and then I restarted my computer and it wouldn't go into windows, it would just blue screen after a few seconds of being on the Windows XP. I was able to to get into windows through safe mode, then I restarted and went into Windows normally and it was just fine. It was weird!!!

The Avast home version is about the best you can get for free and in my opinion is one of the best regardless. I have used it for years and it has kept my computer safe many times. You can also get super anti-malware just to run an extra check from time to time but Avast gives you full real time protection on everything. I tried the Kasperkys and took it right back off immediately. I also don't like Norton anymore. They have gone downhill in the past several years. Try Avast and you wont be disappointed. http://www.avast.com/

trust me, always using eset nod32 antivirus programs they are quite better than any other antivirus programs, i am a internet cafe owner , i am using it since last 2 years consistently, it will not slowdown your pc from anywhere, detects all harmful viruses, trojans, win32, worms, adware, malware, spywares, last but not the least this is fastest and quickest antivirus program on earth or made ever

Eset is the best you get a free trial and it does not even ask you for a credit card or anything when you get it. It runs in the backround so it does not slow your system like most do. You should give it a try. When I did it one PC had lots of problems and now it is working great it is very up to date. If you try it tell me how it works for you

I too had that question in mind and i started a discussion too on this topic..according to my experience...Avira is good it doesn't slows down your machine..Avg is bit more reliable than Avira but it do effects the computing speed..etc..people said that earlier versions of Norton really affected the start up speed of Windows but the new version is much more updated and doesn't have the problem..

AVG 8.5 is the best free antivirus.I just got it installed by me engineer last month. It is really good as it not only removes virus but also removes spyware. It also has a guard to check emails and pen drives for external infected files.Previously i used to use avira antivir antivirus. It removed many viruses for me but never had the spyware feature.

Hey, I personally use and recommend Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, it is quite good and has outperformed most of the main anti viruses such as Norton and AVG and even Live One Care stood no chance against it. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

Kaspersky by far is the best. You could also use ESET Nod32 Antivirus or Smart Security packages. Another Good choice is bitdefender or Panda security. I use Nod32 AV because it uses minimum system resources. You could even use free antivirus like Avast or AVG but their not as good as their premium counterparts. You can get free trials for the antiviruses in their manufacturer's website.

avg is resource intensive and uses a lot of memory. i did not have any luck with avast as some malware had disabled it. so i started using avira. it is free and can be downloaded from download.cnet.com
