I had a pre screening interview this morning with a recruiter, the position required a degree and experience. The recruiter ask me how much pay I was looking for. She told me the position was only paying $12.00 an hour. I told her I am interested. It will hurt if I get this job.

It is not just for new jobs. I had to take a pay cut in April. Then I had to get a 2nd job and do writing online. I now work over 90 hours each week. It is exhausting. I hope this economy turns around soon.

A college degree for $12!?!?!?
Don't feel badly though. I got a job in retail last yr before the downturn and I'm making what I made when I started at a bank back in 1998! Boy did that feel insulting! But there were not alot of people hiring then nor finding a place to work around my hubbys hours so we did not have to pay child care. So it's like taking 5yrs off of working I lost 50% of my pay. Oh and raises I guess were normally 4% & this year they are only giving out 2% I won't even get up to the wage I was willing to work for starting over again. *sigh*

It really depends on what the job is in the first place. Some jobs dont pay well even if they do require a degree and experience! I know someone who got a job like a that a couple of years ago before the economy was bad
You have to decide what is best - this job or no job. If you already have a job, you can always wait for something else. Even if you do take this job, you can still watch for something better to come along!

Wow, I hadn't heard of companies doing this, but I guess if it keeps them from going bankrupt and closing, it's worth it. I know a lot of places are understaffed right now, but aren't hiring because they can't afford to pay more employees right now. Good luck in your job search!
