Why don't myLot mods edit glaring subject errors?

I started a discussion recently, and there was a misspelled word in the title that I missed. Now the mistake is embarrassing. I was tired whan I started the discussion, and should have let it go until the next day, but didn't. It wasn't until the next morning that I saw this blatent mistake right in front of me. I wish I had've noticed, and corrected it, but I didn't and now it's there for good, or can I edit it?

There is no way you can edit it. You could try and report your own discussion telling them the typo in your title is embarrassing but I don't give you much hope. The admins seem to be surrounded by beautiful Latina's on a tropical island lately...

Ha, ha, that's funny, but I wish there was a simple way to edit obvious mistakes. Thanks for the laugh and input.

I am not too content on a few discussion features either. It's impossible to write a response to your own discussion while it would be very useful in addressing a new point, updating your discussion ( without editing your first post, which is also impossible) or for messages that should be read by all responders an example of which could be a discussion in which someone asks for someone to help stop his computer from crashing. When the crashes are over it's impossible to let everyone visiting your discussion, or about to visit, know that the problem is resolved and thus needs no further action or response to be taken or made.

Totally agree. I would heve liked to write an apology for my mistyping, but realised I couldn't. And what would be the point anyway, it shows I'm human.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'm sure all the people who have a real problem with bad spelling and bad grammar gave up on the internet a long time ago. It happens to everyone. You can stare at a glaring error you made and see only what you think is there. Weird aye

Hey jonnoboi, I've forgotten about it already, as the discussion didn't create that much interest. Actually, I'm proud of all the myLotters here who only have English as a second language, but try here to improve their skills. They show real courage. What you say is correct, you can stare for hours, and then a third party will say, "What's that?" Most embarrassing. Thanks for your input.

Actually, in any online community I've managed, mods have never been permitted to correct members' spelling mistakes. Not sure what myLot's policy is on it but I can only speak from my personal experience. The reason is that many posters would be incredibly offended if their content was edited because it appeared their spelling wasn't "good enough" for the forum. Some would consider it harassment on the part of the mods. The only time my clients permitted editing was to mask a word that would have broken a vulgarity guideline (but the rest of the post was worth saving) or to remove a hyperlink and turn it into a text link (some sites don't allow hyperlinks for the protection of younger members being directed to inappropriate sites, for example). We would certainly edit on behalf of a member that specifically asked us to do so but otherwise the member was fully responsible for whatever they posted. If you're really bothered by your typo, I'd take diamania's advice and ask to have it corrected. Good luck!

Hey thinkingoutloud, thank you for your indepth response, and what you ay makes sense. I know we have a lot of myLotters who only have English as a second language, and I admire their courage, and know they improve their skills on this site, and I would never correct their discussions unless specifically asked by them. However, my error was spelling get as fet. Now that is embarrassing.

Hi my friend Mipen. I feel so annoyed with myself when I make a typing error on My Lot. It stays on My Lot and I am not able to delete it. So unless My Lot decides to get rid of it it could be seen by lots of My Lot members. I must have felt awful to make a typing error in a title. I guess that other My Lot members understand when tired a person can make mistakes. I feel ashamed when I respond to the same discussion twice by accident. It is interesting and perhaps was started a few months ago. My worst typing error on My Lot was saying "cease the moment" when I meant to say "seize the moment" in someones discussion.

Hello again max, my typing is pretty ordinary, and I make many mistake. However, I usually find them when I edit my posts. To miss one in a title is embarrassing, especially for native English speakers. I admire those who are trying to improve their English on myLot, and wonder how many will lose this opportunity to practice their skills if payments stop.

Join the club of misfit typo's, lol. I think this has happened to all of us at one time or another. I know the feeling, I want to crawl under a rock. But this too shall pass. We all forgive each other at mylot. Have a good evening!

Hi clutterbug, sounds like you make the odd typo also. I do read and edit my input, but when I see a glaring mistake, especially in the title, I do get frustrated, and ambarrassed. Thanks for the response.
