We usually having our dinner around 7:00 P.M. evening time. While my family all sit together having a nice dinner, and interesting discussion for the day. The phone start ringing off the hook. It was really obnoxious, and annoying. We just trying to have a peaceful time together. After I pick up the phone, the lady voice start selling their plans. I already told them 1000 thousand times, not interesting, and not really need them. It was rude just to hang them up. but I really need my peaceful moment with my family after a long hour working day. What would you do?

They call at that time cause they know many will be home at that time. Just unplug the phone or use answer machine to screen the calls. Back when I was a kid, the phone just rang until the caller hung up. No phone calls during dinner time, was the rule. Same for when my family had dinner... we had an answer machine and it'd pick up the call and we could return it later. But for solicitors, all you have to do it answer.. and they will say their opening speech, and you say "can you hold on a minute?".. then just lay the phone down and go beck to your dinner. They wil eventually hang up. OR if you want to have fun with them.. say "I'll make you a deal.. you buy what I am selling and I"ll buy what you are selling, deal?" and of course they will say no so you say, "well if you don't want to buy what I am sellling, then I don't want to buy what you are selling" and hang up!

Hello, Yea this happens to us too often. A lot of times, they keep on calling us even though we have said no before. And it is the exact same person, that we said no to before. But yea, they bombard us with their offers. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

Absolutely you are right my dear, it is very unpleasant to receive unsolicited calls and the best way to deal with these pests is to keep a whistle by the telephone so then when one of these nasty men try to do it again all you need to do is blow the whistle into the phone. This could do serious damage to his eardrums but at least it will stop him bothering other nice women.

I like coffebreaks philosophy, and I wish I had thought of that. I would just say not interested and hand up with them. Usually that would do it for that company, but then another would appear on the horizon and bug me so I would do the same thing again. It really got annoying, so that is why I got rid of my landline and only use a cell phone now, as I don't get those kind of calls on the cell pnone, and that is a good thing. I had way to many telemarketer calls, and I just got tired of it, so I just cancelled the landline. I am glad I did, as now I have peace. Hurray for cell phones. Have a good day, and happy mylotting.
