I'm looking for non traditional ways to treat hypertension. Does any one know any foods or herbs that can lower blood pressure?

Eating an overall healthier diet lower in fat, cholesterol, and sodium can help to lower your blood pressure, but I'm sure that you're probably already aware of that. There is no one food or herb that will magically cure high blood pressure all by itself, but there are some that can help along with a healthier lifestyle. One herb that can be helpful for lowering blood pressure is ginger. You can drink a tea made with fresh grated ginger, or you can get ginger capsules. Garlic is another food that has been found to lower both high blood pressure and cholesterol. I use garlic in just about everything I cook. Maybe that's why my blood pressure is so great.

My mother had a hypertension I want to find also other alternative to lower her pressure. Although she excercise and she avoid eating meat her blood pressure still goes up. I think it is because of fatigue she is always tired. I worried a lot in this past few days because her pressure is raising. Right now she's very sick because of asthma and flu. It affects her blood pressure everytime she has asthma attacks. Garlic is not a cure but it helps to lower the blood pressure.

try flax seeds, they regulate blood pressure... they need to be boiled for 15 minutes and the water will turn into slime... this slime can regulate blood pressure too... I found out when i was treating my grandmothers diabetes with flax seeds, but not my grandmother said she doesn't want to drink this slime, it doesn't feel good going down the throat...

My mother has hypertension too and I often find her drinking pineapple juice to lower her blood pressure. Since I have the opposite, I really avoid drinking or eating pineapple because I always feel bad whenever I do drink it since I have a low blood pressure most of the time.

Eat low sodium and low fat foods. Garlic can also help in lowering the blood pressure but make sure to soak it in hot water or vinegar first before eating because it may cause a Gastro intestinal upset. And of course, it will help if you limit your water intake. Don't just concentrate on foods only, modify your over all lifestyle.

thx a lot :) i didn't know i had to soak it... very interesting... garlic does have some toxing though in the part in the middle, very easy to remove it... so i've been doing that with garlic, i'll try to soak it too now...
