Best Stain Removers - Help!

This is a discussion and also a call for help!
The situation: I have a black (faded to grey) drawing charcoal stain on a white cotton t-shirt, and I can't figure out how to remove it! I tried soaking it in bleach and there was no result, though the bleach easily removed other stains on the shirt. The stain has been there for quite a while and I have never been able to remove it.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can remove this stain? And for further discussion, What is the best stain remover you have encountered? Do the store bought products work better or just as well as home remedies?

I think once it sets in you can about hang it up,spray and wash is a good stain remover, so next time make sure you spay something on the stain before you put it in the washer. I'm going to have to try out the peroxide like the one before me suggested when I get another stain.
