if you're in a relationship, would you allow her/him to keep you from smoking?

i had a girl before who would constantly ask me how many sticks of cigarettes have i puffed, almost everyday...even before we've met, i didn't hide it from her but when we're already together, she started to control that part of me...and even on other things too... it was always a problem with me, how about you?... at least now, we're no longer together but i know that i'm not the only one who had this kind of experience...

I personally had the problem with my wife when we first started dating. Now we've been married 7 years and she just accepts it. I've quit a couple of times over the years, and it was usually only because I couldn't smoke where I was at. I like smoking, but think I'm getting ready to quit because I want to. In my opinion, that should be the real reason someone should want to quit, because they want to and not because someone else wants them to. If someone starts a relantionship with you knowing dang well that you're a smoker, then hey, what can they really say to you?
