Do you think the Philippines can still achieve First World Status as a country?

I honestly believe that this can still happen. I just think that we need a major overhaul to achieve this. If the government can remove graft and corruption in the system and we Filipinos become more disciplined, anything is possible. Right? Even if right now, being First World seems far fetched, I still remain optimistic because I know that I'm doing the best I can as a Filipino to achieve this. I hope all Filipinos feel the same way as I do about our country. How about you? What do you think? Do you still remain optimistic?

the philippines as a first world? that is very difficult to answer. although there might be a possibility but it will take a lot of hard work. not only should the government aim for that, the whole citizenry should also aim for that in order for it to become a reality. i have my doubts though especially if we look at the trend of our economy and the culture of our people. our economy in the past decades have really plummeted down to the point that majority of the filipinos are poor. on top of that, according to reports, even those unborn filipino children already has a debt to a foreign country. we really are down in debt and that for me is reason enough to believe that it is really impossible for us to be in the ranks of a first world. furthermore, the culture of the filipinos does not indicate that we are ready to be in the first world. we still have the crab mentality and maniana habit which for me are one of the greatest obstacles in achieving that goal. i'm not saying that it is impossible for us to achieve. all i'm saying is that, it is highly unlikely.

I also stated that somehow this goal is far-fetched. It will really take a lot of hard work and we Filipinos also need to change our thinking and way of life. Thank you for responding and Happy Mylotting! :)

I believe Philippines can still achieve that first world status.it will take a lot of major overhaul of our government and discipline from its countrymen.I believe first world countries were like our country once upon a time.what their government did was wake up,plan for their country, and remove graft and corruption.their citizens helped also, for the growth of their beloved country.

Graft and Corruption is really taking this country down. I really hope that our government leaders will have a major epiphany and stop thinking more about themselves and just serve the country. If we could only remove Graft and corruption, that would be a big help to the Filipino People and our goal to be a first world country would be a possibility. :)

We all have to be optimistic if this country is going to progress. for now, we are still progress simply because there are still some walls that still divided the people of these nation. some are not patriotic, others have colonial mentality and others have betrayal syndrome. so, all i can say is it's gonna take alot of work and setting aside self interest if this country is to move forward. we are far away from that.
