Lost Gold Chain

A few years back, a chain snatcher snatched a pure gold chain of nearly 50gms from my mother. Even though we lodged a complaint with the police, immeditely, they never took action on it, and the chain was lost for ever. At the present value it should be around $2,000/-. Have you lost anything like this or has somebody stolen from you, did you get your goods/money back or was it lost for ever ?
