I don't know where this came from there was no copy write indication. Please enjoy Garbage Truck One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital! This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.' he explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so... Love the people who treat you right. Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it! Have a great garbage-free day! The seeds you plant today, determine the harvest you reap tomorrow.

"The seeds you plant today, determine the harvest you reap tomorrow." I think tomorrow has arrived. My 21 year old moved back home, works at a job he hates, and hands me his pay check on pay day. I feel bad. He says forget it, it's his turn. What a harvest!

Hi, Pat! What a wonderful story! I just might use it on my students when they complain, as they always do, about rules, and assignments. You, my dear, are a gem!

I remember reading this years ago; and I really enjoyed it. :) Someone forwarded it to me. I really love the thought in it; but many times, we do find it difficult to refuse the other's garbage, don't we? Cheers and happy Mylotting

Hi savypat, The law of the Garbage Truck is something that can help everyone of us if we apply it. Your taxi driver is a very wise man and I expect helps a lot of people by getting them to change their attitude towards life. Thanks for posting this. Blessings.

I couldn't agree more! It's true. Not made-up fact. We need to treat other with respect. There is a saying,"A stranger is a friend that you haven't met". That holds truth everywhere (just stay away from people we can't get along, though.).

This was very heart-warming, Pat...and a great lesson! We need more of this taxi driver's kind of positivity in the world, and in ourselves :) Karen
