counters? If you ask they will bring them out. Why arent we seeing as many meats like the picnic hams? I have noticed that quite a few of the stores simply do not have them?

I haven't noticed this but going to the store tomorrow and going to take a look. I have no idea why they would start doing this unless there might be a tampering danger or something - hoping someone else has a better answer than me.

It has happened to me quite a few times. I began to wonder if this is some type of change for a reason. Should we expect this to be the way of the future? We will see what you find out. Appreciate the response.

Our stores around here are still stocking them out in the open and they seem to have the same amount as they've always had but then we're a small town and sometimes things that are happening in bigger area's skip us altogether. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

I buy the *smoked picnic shoulder*. They carry them in stores like Walmart, Kroger's and Meijers. They are not technically a *ham* but just as good as and cheaper sometimes. My family has been utilizing this cut of meat for years. I have noticed the decline in some meats. I wonder if people are stealing them or it is the decline in the economy that has caused this?

I have noticed long periods where the picnic's are not available at the stores that I have shopped at. I do agree that it is a good value and would think that more people would be asking for them.

I guess I have never noticed them....behind the counter that is. I'll have to take a look next time I am at the grocery store. I don't buy alot of meat however so I'll just have to make a point of looking.

I just notice change pretty quickly and especialy when it seem to be a pattern habit at many stores. I was told that is their way of making us pay more for less meat by doing this. That was just a persons speculation, however it did peak my curiousity.

i used to work in a supermarket and the reason for this is because people have been stealing them. Although in the store i worked at they have just put bright yellow stickers on the meat of the stickers that read security, which just reminds people that there are cameras around the store

That is true but don't the cameras slow that down now? I wonder if there are other reasons? Appreciate the response.
