I will wash all my new cloth before wearing it. Be it the new cloth still pack in a plastic when buy or hanging on the shelf. I found that new cloth got a kind of cloth smell and I'm so hard to bare with it if not being wash. Those bought from the shelf (especially last piece or sales item), for hygience purpose, I must wash it too as many people touch it, took it to tried with all kind of body smell, sweat, dust or dirt. Another thing I'm very particular is I first wash all new cloth separately each to avoid colouring fading. Coz I'm experienced a badly colour fading top, it spread to another light colour top. So, do you wear your new clothes on the spot or after washing? any other tips to share on washing new clothes?

Yes I do. Sometimes the clothes looks really clean, not tried on before but I still wash, it's a habit. However, I only give it a simple rinse coz if I put to the washing machine and dryer, it'll look not so new anymore and I can't iron it to perfection, just like a brand new shirt,

Hi emtan99, Thanks for your response. Ya, I will do the same too even for cloth packed in plastic. I just can't stand the new cloth smell and to some new cloth fabric feels hard and rough too for the first time wearing. Giving a rinse or I will put in light soap water when rinse. It will feel better and smells new too after wash.

Hi, lemonjude Yes, I wash newly bought clothes before first wearing them. I was not like that before until my mother got a bad case of rashes on her chest because of fitting sale items at a department store years ago. I realized that a lot people may have tried a shirt on or even the cloth may not be very clean before it was made into a dress. There are times, though, when I so want to wear a dress before I could wash it so I just take the risk. Have a nice day!

Hello lemonjude. I don't usually wash the clothes I buy before I wear it. I always wear it first for a few days before I wash it. I don't think that it matters much as it is new and clean. But of course, what you said sounds reasonable. The first time it is washed, it is supposed to be washed separately to avoid color fading. This is what I do as well. Take care.

I don't particularly do it but then I'm a guy. Often not as detail as ladies would be. However, my wife would insist that all clothes be washed before they can be worn. I believe it is better that way. Sometimes, you will never know who has tried out that particular shirt or dress before we bought it. So better safe than sorry..haha

I always ask for another ones that are still wrapped in plastic whenever I buy new clothes. I don't want the ones which are on the display. The ones that are still wrapped are clean enough, so I don't have to wash before wearing. If I am not lucky enouh, that they don't have any other stock left, then like it or not, I have to wash them. Well, I always wash new clothes seperately, and I use baby liquid detergent or shampoo for the first wash.

Yeah, same goes with me here, I wash all the new cloth before first wearing. But somehow, my hubs does not want me to do this on his newly bought shirts and pants. He would prefer to wear for first time then only let me wash for him.

Of coz I do. You'll never know how many millions people might have tried it on before and what germs and bacteria are on it. And not to forget the chemicals they use on the cloth itself. I do wash them separately initially to see if the colour runs too. Just a simple rinse will do for me though.

I'll wash them before wearing. You'll never know how many people has been trying them ahead of you and how the factory treated the cloths. I worked in a garment factory before so I'll make sure my new cloths washed before I wear.
