I am preparing for my SOA exam probability. I bought this thick book which is around 488 pages. I've been studying since june and I am at page 412 right now. The problem is that i can't go any further. My brain is saturated of probabilities and math. Right now, I just read the exercise but my brain won't analyze anything. Is there anything you can suggest me to do? I do take short breaks but still doesn't work. and on top of that, my sleeping habit is all messed up. I can't sleep until 3-5am and wake up at noon-1pm. I get soo tired during the day. :( I feel like I am going to fail and that the 200$ which I paid for the exam will be going to garbage. Any suggestion to keep the motivation/strenght to do this? thx in advance

To the extent you have studied you are able to reproduce? IOW if you now try a problem from the beginning sections you think you will be able to solve the problems? I mean without looking into the book. Is this exam an open book or a closed book kind? You are really doing great considering that you have completed 412/488 pages. Disturbance of the cicadian rhythm i.e natural sleep pattern is an unwanted fall out of a committed study schedule. Are you cramming oe you have time for your exam?

Yes I am able to do a problem without looking at the solution. This is a closed book. Actually, this is how it will work. I go at the examination center and then the questions will appear on the computer. It's all multiple choice questions and you are provided with papers, a calculator, and a pen of course. I have to finish it in 3 hours. actually, I am not sure if I lack time. If I keep on being slow, I won't finish in time. Just 112 problems to go....

Oh! That's good.An MCQ based exam and computer evaluated one at that. So you will be timed on your performance also. The results may be instantly available. The book that you are using is designed in the form of the examination taken like the sudy guides of GRE oe GMAT exams, I believe. Have you evaluated yourself on a sample basis? That will improve your confidence level.

You doing great! You've completed 412 pages and that's really amazing!!! My suggestion is, don't touch the book for complete 24hrs! Go out, and have fun. Get nice ice-creams, do something that is fun. Just forget about the book for a day! Once you do that, all your tense and move out a little, and you can focus a lil! Good Luck on your exams and don't give up on silly thing!!
