What are the reasons for people attempting suicide

One of my amusine has made a suicide attempt last week. I dont know the exact reason. But i worry why people attempt suicide. Do you what are the reasons for people attempting suicide

I believe that they feel that their problems are too big to be solved and that they do not see a way out of what they think is a mess, and do not want to face the consequences of their actions.
I am sure there are a lot of other reasons but those come to my mind.
I find life to be precious and a gift, it is better to stay till it is our time to go than to give our loved ones and friends the heartache of leaving like that.
